Favorite Quotes: An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

Hey fabulous bibliovores! Happy Friday! Today, I'm participating in Phase Four of the An Ember in the Ashes fan activity! Phase Four is all about Fan Art! I'm absolutely horrible at arts of any sort, except music. Graphic arts are not my forte (nor drawing or painting, etc.), so bear with me! And be sure to check out my posts for Phase One (Name the Fandom), Phase Two (Sequel Excitement), and Phase Three (Character Love).

Like I said, I am REALLY bad with graphic arts. I thought about doing a Pinterest board of cool images related to the book, but I think there are a lot of those artwork roundups, especially on Tumblr. But, I did something that I actually had a lot of fun doing - finding my favorite quotes from the book! I scoured the hardcover copy, and found these! The images are from the US and UK book covers. Enjoy!

I try, guys :D I will never be an expert with graphic arts, but I will always be pretty great with finding awesome quotes! Sabaa makes it easy, with her lovely writing ;)

An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
Book One of the An Ember in the Ashes series
Publisher: Razorbill
Publication Date: April 28, 2015

Official Summary:

Set in a terrifyingly brutal Rome-like world, An Ember in the Ashes is an epic fantasy debut about an orphan fighting for her family and a soldier fighting for his freedom. It’s a story that’s literally burning to be told.

LAIA is a Scholar living under the iron-fisted rule of the Martial Empire. When her brother is arrested for treason, Laia goes undercover as a slave at the empire’s greatest military academy in exchange for assistance from rebel Scholars who claim that they will help to save her brother from execution.

ELIAS is the academy’s finest soldier—and secretly, its most unwilling. Elias is considering deserting the military, but before he can, he’s ordered to participate in a ruthless contest to choose the next Martial emperor.

When Laia and Elias’s paths cross at the academy, they find that their destinies are more intertwined than either could have imagined and that their choices will change the future of the empire itself.

About the Author:

Sabaa Tahir grew up in California’s Mojave Desert at her family’s 18-room motel. There, she spent her time devouring fantasy novels, raiding her brother’s comic book stash and playing guitar badly. She began writing An Ember in the Ashes while working nights as a newspaper editor. She likes thunderous indie rock, garish socks and all things nerd. Sabaa currently lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her family.

  1. Nice selection of quotes!! I love the third one a lot. I'm not that great with making graphics either even though I try many times lol.

  2. These are awesome!! And I don't think you're horrible at graphic design. These are lovely, as are the quotes! I still have yet to read this book and I'm pretty sure the second one is either out or about to come out (or maybe I have no idea what I'm talking about?) That's a possibility too. Hehe
