In the Afterlight by Alexandra Bracken
Book Three of The Darkest Minds series
Publisher: Disney-Hyperion
Publication Date: October 28, 2014

Official Summary:

Ruby can't look back. Fractured by an unbearable loss, she and the kids who survived the government's attack on Los Angeles travel north to regroup. Only Ruby can keep their highly dangerous prisoner in check. But with Clancy Gray, there's no guarantee you're fully in control, and everything comes with a price.

When the Children's League disbands, Ruby rises up as a leader and forms an unlikely allegiance with Liam's brother, Cole, who has a volatile secret of his own. There are still thousands of other Psi kids suffering in government "rehabilitation camps" all over the country. Freeing them--revealing the governments unspeakable abuses in the process--is the mission Ruby has claimed since her own escape from Thurmond, the worst camp in the country.

But not everyone is supportive of the plan Ruby and Cole craft to free the camps. As tensions rise, competing ideals threaten the mission to uncover the cause of IANN, the disease that killed most of America's children and left Ruby and others with powers the government will kill to keep contained. With the fate of a generation in their hands, there is no room for error. One wrong move could be the spark that sets the world on fire.

Check out the novella, Sparks Rise:

Sam didn't think things could get worse at Thurmand rehabilitation camp. Then the Reds arrive. Everyone assumed the kids with firepower had been killed years ago. Instead they were taken away, brainwashed, and returned as terrifyingly effective guards. To her horror, Sam recognizes one of them: Lucas, the one spark of light in Sam's dark childhood.

Lucas has a deadly secret--he beat the brutal training that turned his fellow Reds into mindless drones. When Sam defends herself against an attack by a vile PSF guard and faces a harrowing punishment, Lucas must risk his everything to save her.

  5. I would love to be a green and have super intelligence! To be able to absorb and retain information at the drop of a hat would be the greatest thing for me :) I'd be like a walking, talking, breathing computer! How cool is that?

  18. I loved The Darkest Minds and I can't wait to finally, finally get my hands on a copy of Never Fade so I can be prepared for In The Afterlight! The first book has blown me away and is one of my favorite dystopian books and I can't wait to see how the story concludes. Since I'm from Germany, I'm not able to read the novellas because they are just not available for purchase hear but I heard those are great, too. Sadly, I can't participate in the giveaway but I'm still super excited for the release and can't wait to read your review :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. The telekinesis blue is quite the intriguing one, isn't it? I haven't actually read the series yet, though it is sitting on my shelf. I've even met Alexandra (who is lovely, by the way). It's so close to the top of my TBR list and I'm ecstatic to read it. Thank you so much for this seriously amazing giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Blue! Can you imagine having the power of Telekinesis? It would be amazing!

  31. I think I'd want telekinesis (Blue), or pyrokinesis (Red) as my power, they both seem cool to have. And I'm Anastasia in the Rafflecopter.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Definitely tied between orange and red! Mind control and fire seem epic!

    ReplyDelete
  36. Mmm... Red. Or Blue. I've always loved fire type powers and moving things with your mind. Chores would be totally easier!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Pyro or Mind Control would be my pick!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Definitely mind control! It's such a cool and useful ability to have!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Mind control would be my first choice of psi abilities in the world of The Darkest Minds. In the normal world, I would want to be green :D

    ReplyDelete
  40. I think the Mind Control is most interesting. In the two (well, I guess three) people we read about that have it, their abilities are similar but not totally the same! So that's why it's interesting to me; what determines what powers they'll have? Interesting, right?

    ReplyDelete
  41. I think Mind Control Orange seems the most interesting to me. It seemed extremely useful for Ruby in The Darkest minds world but extremely dangerous at the same time...

    ReplyDelete
  42. I am going to go with the blue one just because it is my favorite color!!! Honestly I haven't read the series yet but I have heard nothing but good things so I am excited to!!!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Wow, it's hard to just choose one. I would say telekinesis.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I love this question! I keep saying telekinesis, but I'm liking pyrokinesis more and more. :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. I love TDM! I'd have to say . . . yellow.

    ReplyDelete
  46. There all really cool and I'd love to be a part of all of them.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Blue, definitely blue. I'd move everything and know one would even know.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Orange all the way!!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I'm definitely most interesting in Blues--who isn't interested in telekinesis!?

    ReplyDelete
  50. I would love to be an Orange!!!! It would be cool to control minds and see what people are thinking!

    ReplyDelete
  51. I would love to be Orange. Mind control would be such a cool gift.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I would love to be purokinesis red. I own this series and plan to read it next. So excited for the next book!
