Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews, in which bloggers share the books and swag they've received in the past week!
So, what did I get in the week of Sunday, March 26th to Saturday, April 1st?
(all links to Goodreads are provided!)
In the mail:
A Roar poster
Thank you, Tor! No, I'm not home yet (I will be on Saturday night), but I broke my own rule for this book. It poured rain on Friday, and this package got soaked. My sister messaged me pictures of the package, and it was a bit damaged... so I told her to go ahead and open the package and take out whatever was in it. The poster is a tiny bit wet in a corner, but otherwise, everything looks okay!
The rest!
A package of First Second books (The Spill Zone by Scott Westerfeld and Alex Pullivand, In Real Life by Cory Doctorow and Jen Wang, Delilah Dirk and the Turkish Lieutenant by Tony Cliff, This One Summer by Mariko Tamaki and Jillian Tamaki)
A nice surprise from First Second/Macmillan! My little cousin might enjoy some of these. Good timing too, because her birthday is in a week!
Thank you, Penguin! I read this one last year and really enjoyed it. =)
From Amazon:
Free sampler! It includes a sneak peek of The Darkest Promise too. :D
I'll post the other book (I think it was just one more package) when I get home on Saturday! A quiet mail week, which is exactly what I needed.
Friends! If anyone wants to help me out, please like THIS or THIS post! Much appreciated. :D If you share that graphic with the hashtag #Snowstormlings, you could win an eARC of Roar. You can also win a preorder of Roar HERE.
Also, don't forget about my pageviews giveaways! The Twitter one ended, but the two blog giveaways are still open (until Saturday night)!
Oh man, yes! It poured so hard the last few days here. I was very relieved that I didn't get any packages because all our mail was so damp.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Alyssa!
Right?! I loved it (I adore torrential downpours) but not at the expense of my book mail. :( I'm glad yours were safe!
DeleteThank you, Sophia!
Roar. <3
ReplyDeleteSam @ WLABB

DeleteOh nice! Been seeing a lot of love for Roar going on lately! I'm kind of on the fence about it. But I can't wait to read your thoughts on it! Happy Reading!
ReplyDeleteMy STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
To be honest, I understand why you're on the fence. Perhaps wait until the series is complete?
DeleteThank you, Jessica!
Thank you for reminding me that I need to update my weekly post to add the Roar incentive thing ;)
ReplyDeleteI hope I get my ARC soon! I can't wait! Such a pretty cover.
Have a lovely week!
Genesis @ Latte Nights Reviews
Thank you!
DeleteOh my, so glad only the poster got a little wet. Roar looks interesting, hope you like it.
ReplyDeleteHappy Reading,
Stormi
Just a tiny bit! Thank you, Stormi. ^_^
DeleteIs this the street team copy? I haven't opened my mail yet but was wondering...
ReplyDeleteIt is! I think the vast majority of members haven't gotten their copy yet. ;)
Deleteoh YAY for Gena Showalter and I am so jealous but then I have become so behind on her books, so I do need to catch up on her since I just have loved her for the most part. Hope you are enjoying your weekend.
ReplyDeleteIt's free, so it doesn't hurt to add it to the TBR. :D Thank you, Renee!
DeleteRoar definitely looks interesting, and glad the water damage wasn't worse. I hate it when it pours and book packages get wrecked. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!!
Right? This was the first time a package got so thoroughly soaked. :/
DeleteI'm glad the book didn't get damaged! It looks like a good one! :)
ReplyDeleteSame! It's good so far, for me!
DeleteThe cover for Roar looks amazing! - Katie
ReplyDeleteSeriously though! It's gorgeous. :D
DeleteOoh, pretty covers. Hope you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Nikki!

My STS
Thank you! I can't wait to read the next one (The Darkest Promise). Cameo/Lazarus's story has been a long time coming!
DeleteYou're so lucky to have a copy of Roar. Great haul.
ReplyDeleteThank you! =)
DeleteAh! Roar! It seems like I've been waiting FOREVER for that book. I haven't read anything by Carmack before but this one sounds fantastic and I can't wait for it to eventually release!
ReplyDeleteI liked both of your posts and realised I wasn't following your FB page so that's also been rectified! :D
Hope you have a great week and thank goodness for saving wet packages!
Her NA books are pretty good! Some are hit-or-miss but she is a solid author overall. ^_^
DeleteThank you, Di! You're the best! <3333
Great haul this week. I can't wait to read Roar.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week <3
Here is my STS
I hope you get the chance to read it soon, Aneta! Thank you!
DeleteI am really looking forward to Roar! I also think I'm a bit in love with the cover :) Never read the author before, I'm pretty excited to try!
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
YAY! I hope you love it when you read it, Mogsy! Also if you're interested in Showalter, this sampler is PERFECT, because it's free, and it includes a sample of all of the books in this series!
DeleteI am glad that your copy of Roar stayed safe in the rain storm. I am always worried about something like that happening. Enjoy your new books!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I didn't even know it was supposed to arrive that day and I flipped out when I realized that it was home and soaking on the porch. Thank goodness my sister grabbed it for me!
DeleteI'm glad the actual book is okay! I really hate when the rain soaks into packages. Doesn't happen too often though, thank goodness!
ReplyDeleteRight!? This was the first time that a package got really soaked, but luckily, the wetness didn't seep through the package (except for that one corner). Phew!
DeleteRoar sounds great. I'll check it out. Glad that it was safe. I hope enjoy them. Have a great week. :-D
ReplyDeleteIt does! And the cover is so pretty. ;) Thank you, Geybie!
DeleteThe cover of Roar is gorgeous. That sounds like it will be a good one! I hope you enjoy all your new books! Thank you for sharing. I hope you have a great week.
ReplyDeleteIt really is! Even if I end up disliking the book (which I'm sure I won't), I would still want a copy of the book, because of the cover. Thank you! <333
DeleteGlad the package was okay...for the most part. That has happened to me once or twice. Gena Showalter's writing rocks, so I hope you enjoy it.
ReplyDeletesherry @ fundinmental Sunday Memes
Agreed! It wasn't too bad. Thank you, Sherry!
DeleteI'm in love with that cover of Cora's book! Lots of goodies! Happy reading! I'm a blog follower and you can find my post for StS here if you'd like to stop by.
ReplyDeleteIt is great, isn't it? The poster is perfect. Thank you so much!
DeleteAhh great haul Alyssa! It's good that Roar and the poster weren't too damaged. :) I still haven't read The Glittering Court yet, but I want to finish the Vampire Academy series before I start it. Hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI was so realized! There was so much rain that day. I haven't read the VA series, only Soundless and The Glittering Court. I didn't really like Soundless, but The Glittering Court was pretty good. Thank you, Genni!
DeleteBook mail is always so exciting!
ReplyDeleteI hope you end up loving Roar =D
Thank you, Faith! <333
DeleteI love the cover for Roar and will put it on my TBR list. You have got so much going on with this blog! Very impressive, I must say. Have a wonderful week of reading.
ReplyDeleteThe TBR never ends! Thank you, Ardis. :D
DeleteAhhh, I really want to read Roar!! Not only is the cover gorgeous, but it sounds so exciting and I've heard great things about it already. I hope you enjoy it and I love the poster!
ReplyDeleteI really hope you get the chance to read it, Becky! Thank you. ^_^
DeleteRoar looks pretty interesting. I'm glad the rain didn't get to it! It was so rainy here on Friday. I had planned to let my students outside to film their book trailers, but they had to be inside instead. I've actually been meaning to read This One Summer. I'm a fan of graphic novels. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteIt does! That sucks that the rain hindered the trailer shooting process! It was just too much rain. :/ Thank you, Nat!
DeleteAhhhh cannot wait to see what you think of Roar! I am so looking forward to that one. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Teresa! I'm excited to finally sit down and read it! :D
DeleteCan't wait to see your thoughts on Roar :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'll be reading it next month!
DeleteSome awesome book! I do want to check out Roar! I did really enjoy the Glittering Court as well so I hope your cousin enjoys her copy :)
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy Roar, Eve! Thank you!
DeleteI am glad the water didn't get to, to much of your book! That is always the worst! Have a great reading week!
ReplyDeleteIt really is! As soon as my sister said that the package had been sitting out in the rain, I freaked out. I made her open it immediately!
DeleteThank you, Kristyn! Same to you!
You received quite a few awesome looking books last week! I don't know most of them. I want to read The Glittering Court, though, I love Richelle Mead!
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
That was a great book, Jo! I highly recommend it, especially to a Mead fan. ^_^
DeleteAck! So glad that the book and poster wasn't damaged :) Hugs. Wet packages are the wooorst. Ahh. And yay for getting other stunning mail too :) Hope you love it all Alyssa. <3 Hugs. I'm so so behind on commenting, and just commenting a little bit now, but getting caught up soonish, I hope :)
ReplyDeleteYou and me both! I was freaking out that day. Thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to comment, Carina!
