Promo and Giveaway: The Rose Society by Marie Lu

Yo people! Happy (holiday) Monday! Holiday in the USA, the last one for a while! Today I'm participating in a really cool promotion with Penguin, in support of the publication of The Rose Society by Marie Lu! I've read this book and absolutely LOVED it. You can win a copy today!

VILLAIN SQUAD

Today, I will share my villain identity with you all! When the publicist emailed me with this promotional blog post idea, I immediately thought of a few things. What would fit a villain Alyssa best though?

Well. Everyone, Alyssa is no more. Meet...

THE BLACKSMITH

With the power of transmutation!

(Don't you love it?!)

Transmutation has a lot of definitions, depending on what branch of science you're looking at. Ultimately, my villainous self is able to control and manipulate chemical elements (like metals) and convert it into other substances. Changing things (particularly, elements and metals) from one state to another! Some have transmutation as transforming one object into a completely different one (like, say, a cucumber to a TV. Weird, right?). That to me makes no sense because there needs to be shared properties (like atomic structure and whatnot) for one thing to turn into another? But anyway, this is all fictional so I will can the science!

Fits, right? Sciency Alyssa is sciency, especially on the chemistry and physical side of science. Transmutation and alchemy were hand-in-hand, in the medieval days!

I chose "The Blacksmith" because they are kickbutt creators, morphing metal into something deadly.

So... watch out, yo. The Blacksmith is in town. Melting your phones and blowing up steel pipes and things and obliterating bridges.

Meet my Villain Squad!

- Nikki, Fiction Freak

Also:

- Will Turner, Pirates of the Caribbean: yes, he does not have a "superpower". But he is the BEST blacksmith out there, and a savvy pirate!
- Ciere, Illusive by Emily Lloyd-Jones: an illusionist, like Adelina! It's good to have one on your side ;)
- Literally anyone from The Darkest Minds series by Alexandra Bracken: some Blues and Oranges would be good. Check out this graphic:

Taylor Swift has nothing on this group! ;D
