"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week, I'm featuring:
Midnight Jewel by Richelle Mead
Book Two of The Glittering Court series
Publisher: Razorbill
Publication Date: April 25, 2017
Summary (from Goodreads):
In MIDNIGHT JEWEL, Richelle Mead goes beyond the glitz and glamour of the Glittering Court, delving into the dark, political underbelly of Cape Triumph through the eyes of one girl who dares to fight for her freedom.
A refugee of war, Mira was cast out of her home country and thrust into another, where the conditions were inhospitable at best. In a life-altering twist of fate, she is given the chance to escape once more, and she takes it, joining the Glittering Court.
Both a school and a business venture, the Glittering Court is designed to transform impoverished girls into upper-class ladies who appear destined for powerful and wealthy marriages in the New World. There, Mira finds herself subjected to persecution, not only from her fellow Glittering Court jewels, but from her suitors, as well—men she would potentially be expected to give her life to.
By day, she goes through the motions, learning the etiquette and customs that will help to earn her anonymity, even making a couple true friends in the process, the forthright ladies’ maid Adelaide and the ambitious laundress Tamsin. But by night, Mira hatches a different plan entirely—one that, if exposed, could get her hanged in the highest court of Adoria.
MIDNIGHT JEWEL is the extraordinary story of a girl with few options who courageously forges a new path, finding love, passion, lifelong friendships, and maybe even a way to freedom.
To be honest, I'm not dying to read this book, but if it falls into my lap, then I'll be reading it for sure! I liked The Glittering Court.
Ooh nice! I still need to read The Glittering Court, but all the reviews I've read have me nervous about it! But it's Richelle Mead and I generally love her books!! LOL! Hope you enjoy this one once you read it!

I liked the first book! This cover, I'm not a fan of, but I liked the first one's. =)

ReplyDeleteMy WoW
Thank you!
DeleteOh I love that cover! I still need to read the first book in this series. I hope you like this one even better than the first. :)
ReplyDeleteThat's great! I hope so too, thank you. :D
DeleteI want to read this one too but I can wait April isn't too far away.
ReplyDeleteIt feels rather far away, but it will be here before we know it. D:
DeleteI am so excited for this book. I think it will be great.
ReplyDeleteI think so too!
DeleteI can't remember for sure, need to check my TBR shelf, but I think I got the first book as an ARC in a books for trade deal, but haven't gotten around to it yet. I really do want to get started though. Great pick! Thanks for stopping by my WOW earlier!
ReplyDeleteSo many books, so little time, right? I hope you lie it, Lisa!
DeleteI haven't read this series, but it does sound good.
ReplyDeleteI hope it is great!
DeleteSshhh...don't tell anyone, but I didn't finish the Vampire Academy series. I lost interest in it after four books, so I've been hesitant to read anything else from Richelle Mead. But I hope you love this one!
ReplyDeleteHa! I haven't even read the books! I'm not sure if they are for me.
DeleteThank you, Angie!
Mira was probably my favourite character from The Glittering Court, and I think that going into this one I would be better equipped knowing what to expect and the world already has a shape for me so I think this one could be a more enjoyable read. I'm curious to know what Mira's been getting up to and where it will take her in this companion novel!
ReplyDeleteDi @ Book Reviews by Di
I liked her! I hope this one will be excellent, though we'll find out soon... I'm loving the companion novel trend!
DeleteYes! To the companion novel trend. I love that you can take it or leave it and everything is still resolved for the main characters of the original book. It's great not to have to commit to an entire series!
DeleteLow commitment is the best! Not from a publishing standpoint, but definitely from a reader standpoint. :D
DeleteI can't wait to read this! I loved The Glittering Court. I was leery of reading it at first because of the poor reviews, but I am so glad that I went for it anyways. I want to know Mira's story!
ReplyDeleteIt boggled my mind a little, that the reviews were so divided! But it's great that you loved book one. I hope this companion novel is great!
DeleteI haven't read The Glittering Court, but I really want to try this series. I'm not the biggest fan of this author, but I enjoy her books!
ReplyDeleteInteresting... this series is the first I've read by her (and Soundless too), so I don't know much about the VA series and such. I'm glad you like her books!
DeleteThere were so many reviews that were unfavorable for the first book that I removed it from my list. I thought about borrowing it from the library a time or two, but decided against even trying to read it. Those covers are gorgeous, though.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean! Honestly it's probably not worth pursuing. There are so many better books out there!
DeleteFingers crossed you will end up liking it if you do end up reading it :D Lovely pick sweetie. <3 I have only read one book by this author. Soundless. I did not like it much. So not planning on reading other books by her, hih :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! Ehhh, you can't love them all. :D
