Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess: a mortal vampire with a rare gift for harnessing the earth's magic. She must be protected at all times from Strigoi; the fiercest vampires--the ones who never die. The powerful blend of human and vampire blood that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa's best friend, makes her a Dhampir. Rose is dedicated to a dangerous life of protecting Lissa from Strigoi, who are hell-bent on making Lissa one of them.

After two years of freedom, Rose and Lissa are caught and dragged back to St. Vladimir’s Academy, where vampire royalty and their guardians-to-be prepare for a life fraught with danger. Rose and Lissa must navigate their treacherous world and never once let their guard down, lest the evil undead make Lissa one of them forever. But soon Rose finds herself gripped by temptation of forbidden love, leaving Lissa exposed to Strigoi attack. Now she must choose between the best friend she lives for, and the man she can't live without….

Have you read this series?

Friends! I have not read any of the books in this series (nor have I read many Mead books in general). Have you read the Vampire Academy books? Do you think I would enjoy them? Convince me in the comments section!

  1. I loved the Vampire Academy books. I think you may like them, it takes a long time for the romance to build. This may annoy you (it didn't me).

  2. Loved this series, but confession, I loved Bloodlines even more. I was very sad to leave this world.

  3. I haven't read this series either. I have read 2 of Mead's other books but never have picked this one up. I am kind of on the fence like you. I can't believe that it has been 10 years since it was released!

    1. I've read two of her newer books as well! Unrelated to VA or Bloodlines. Ten years was not that long ago, eh? :D

  4. Has it really been 10 years? Well I'm old lol! I read the first two maybe three and I thought they were okay, but I was over vampires at that time. So I plan on retrying the series. If you decide to read it I hope you love it!

    1. RIGHT?! I remember the series publishing, though I was really young and totally uninterested in the books at the time. I can't decide if this is a series for me. But I might binge-read the books!

      Thank you, Erin. ^_^

    1. Woah! That's so cool! I'm glad you remember that, definitely cherish that. I want to try this series, but I think it'd be best if I obtained all of the books first. ^_^

    1. I'm not sure I want to read the series mostly because it's such a long series! I'd need to obtain the books somehow, and I really don't want to buy an entire series. LOL. Once I graduate, I'll start visiting my public library more (like I used to, before attending uni).
