My Favorite Original YA Book Covers

Happy Friday, bibliovores! Today is another day in which I didn't feel like writing/posting a review, but did feel like posting something... so I'm doing another favorites post! You can check out my other favorites posts in a previous posts (for example).

Here are some of my favorite original YA book covers. When I saw "original", I mean the USA covers that were originally revealed... but then the cover was changed before the book published. I'm not talking about the hardcover had X cover and the paperback now has Y cover. I'm talking about there was a cover change before the book even published. You'll see what I mean!

(Click on the covers to see the new and improved hardcover cover!)

You ever see a cover reveal and think, WOW that's a great cover. And then soon after, but before the book publishes, you see that the publisher has changed the cover again? And you're really sad because that means that the original cover will never see the light of day (except maybe ARCs)? Yeah... I know that feeling all too well. In the case of The Forbidden Wish, The Burning Sky, Zodiac, Blood Passage, and Rebel of the Sands, ARCs had been printed and I have a copy. Oh, what could have been!

  1. Totally agree with you! I looved the original Rebel Sands cover, which I did manage to get! I got Into the Dark as well by chance! Though I do see the issue with that what with the series name being bigger than the title!

Another two that I really liked as ARCs that I have that I thought were way better than the final cover were Doomed by Tracy Deebs which had a much edgier look and I felt like fit the story way better than the simple one they went with and the other one was Into the Dim! Another one I just liked better than the final hardcover! It's funny when the paperbacks of these books get changed too and then there's 3 different covers of the same book out in the world!

  2. It seems to be happening more and more lately, covers changing before pub date. I heard from the author of this week's Waiting on Wednesday post that her cover has already changed!😐

  3. They must do that sort of thing more often with YA or only certain publishers b/c I think I've only noticed this one time with an adult book I got from publisher and then the final copy had a different one.
But yes! Those are so snazzy. Too bad they were changed.

    Have a wonderful weekend, Alyssa!

  5. These covers are stunning! I get so frustrated when I see a cover I like for the book and then it gets published with a completely different cover.

  6. It is so weird when they do these cover changes. At least I think it is weird. I haven't read any of these but I do have a copy of Into the Dark from NetGalley that I still need to read.

  7. Honestly I am STILL not over The Forbidden Wish! I am super jealous that you have a copy, actually ha- I had an ARC, but by the time I got it, it was the new, terrible cover. That is one decision I will never understand! Also, I had to look up a few of the others, and WOW, I feel you with The Shadow Prince, too! And the only reason I can live with the Rebel of the Sands situation is because I *love* the UK covers haha
