These Are a Few of My Favorite: "Old" YA Books

Happy Tuesday, bibliovores! Today I'm sharing some of my favorite "old" YA books. What do I mean by "old"? I'm classifying "old" as published over five years ago (or thereabout). I read a lot of these in 2011 (before I started blogging), when I was sixteen. To this day, a lot of them are still some of my favorites! Keep in mind, these are just a few of many. Enjoy!

Series:

The Graceling Realm series

(Bitterblue doesn't count, but even if it did, I haven't read it yet! I know, for shame.)

The Books of Pellinor series

The Incarceron series

The Need series:

Standalone Novels:

Books from Series I Haven't Finished:

And I'm sure there are plenty more that I can't think of, at the moment! "Old" YA wasn't all bad. In fact, many were quite good. =) Tell me - what are some of your favorite "old" YA books?

  1. I have Article 5 and Graceling on my shelves just waiting for me to get around to them. I'll have to check out the Pellinor series that looks interesting.

  2. This is a great list! I still haven't read the Graceling series You should finish the Article 5 series, it's a good one!

  4. I remember reading Need when I was in middle school! I read the first three books, and then never read the fourth. I want to one day, but I'll have to refresh my memory first. I absolutely love Graceling, but I never continued with the series because I was nervous it wouldn't live up to my high expectations. I'll have to look up these other books! Thanks for the recommendations Alyssa. :)

  5. Very neat covers on them. It's funny how so many of our favorites often come from early on and before our blogs started.

  8. Kristin Cashore's books will always be among the best YA fantasy novels I've ever read! Love them all to pieces, although Fire is my personal fave. OMG, Brightly Woven! It's the only book by Alexandra Bracken that I've read, but I absolutely loved it. No one seems to talk about it though, which is a bummer. I loved the Pellinor books too, but I hardly remember anything about them. Might be time for a re-read!

  9. Fun feature. Oh gosh, there are tons of books I read and loved before I started blogging - and even some while I was blogging but came out years ago!

  14. I guess the definition of "old" depends on the reader. 5 years ago seems like yesterday to me. I do have Graceling on my bookshelf but I haven't read any of the books that made your list.
