Happy Tuesday, bibliovores! Today I'm sharing some of my favorite "old" YA books. What do I mean by "old"? I'm classifying "old" as published over five years ago (or thereabout). I read a lot of these in 2011 (before I started blogging), when I was sixteen. To this day, a lot of them are still some of my favorites! Keep in mind, these are just a few of many. Enjoy!
Series:
The Graceling Realm series
(Bitterblue doesn't count, but even if it did, I haven't read it yet! I know, for shame.)
The Books of Pellinor series
The Incarceron series
The Need series:
Standalone Novels:
Books from Series I Haven't Finished:
And I'm sure there are plenty more that I can't think of, at the moment! "Old" YA wasn't all bad. In fact, many were quite good. =) Tell me - what are some of your favorite "old" YA books?
I have Article 5 and Graceling on my shelves just waiting for me to get around to them. I'll have to check out the Pellinor series that looks interesting.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great list! I still haven't read the Graceling series You should finish the Article 5 series, it's a good one!
ReplyDeleteI need to finish the Article 5 series as well.
ReplyDeleteAnd I need to read Graceling one of these days.
I remember reading Need when I was in middle school! I read the first three books, and then never read the fourth. I want to one day, but I'll have to refresh my memory first. I absolutely love Graceling, but I never continued with the series because I was nervous it wouldn't live up to my high expectations. I'll have to look up these other books! Thanks for the recommendations Alyssa. :)
ReplyDeleteVery neat covers on them. It's funny how so many of our favorites often come from early on and before our blogs started.
ReplyDeleteWow. These are lovely list Alyssa. The covers looks amazing too especially the incarceron and need series!
ReplyDeleteI didn't read much YA in 2011 I will need to check these out. Great post!!
ReplyDeleteKristin Cashore's books will always be among the best YA fantasy novels I've ever read! Love them all to pieces, although Fire is my personal fave. OMG, Brightly Woven! It's the only book by Alexandra Bracken that I've read, but I absolutely loved it. No one seems to talk about it though, which is a bummer. I loved the Pellinor books too, but I hardly remember anything about them. Might be time for a re-read!
ReplyDeleteFun feature. Oh gosh, there are tons of books I read and loved before I started blogging - and even some while I was blogging but came out years ago!

From your list I've only read the Graceling books but it's so good!! It's a series I'll definitely reread again and again :D
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I haven't read any of these, but I'm dying to read Entwined. The cover's so beautiful, and it looks so good.
ReplyDeleteHope you're having a good week, Alyssa :)
OOh nice!! I might have to borrow this post idea as I have a ton of old favorites that predate my blogging days as well!! I looooved Fateful and Wake Unto Me as well! I STILL need to read Entwined!! Great post and list! :)
ReplyDeleteYay! Someone else who loves Graceling - it's my fave book series of all time. You should totally read Bitterblue, Alyssa! <3

I guess the definition of "old" depends on the reader. 5 years ago seems like yesterday to me. I do have Graceling on my bookshelf but I haven't read any of the books that made your list.
ReplyDeleteAlyssa thank you for making my TBR grow by 10 books in a span of two minutes :P I'm sure that's a record! can you believe I've never read any of these?? Graceling is high up on my TBR though! Great post girl :)
ReplyDeleteSo many awesome covers. I remember wanting to read the Graceling series, and Article 5 as well. I never got to either one! Ack. Thanks for reminding me of these, back on the TBR they go lol.
ReplyDeleteBack in the day I read so many of these, although the Incarceron series has been on my list forever! Thanks for reminding me about it - and adding serval more books to my mammoth TBR pile lol. I also loved the Sabriel Series by Garth Nix and Maria V snyders Poison study series - they were my favourites as a teen :)
ReplyDeleteI adored the Graceling books. Funny, but the middle book was the best in my opinion.

Entwined was one of my all time favorite books as well. I haven't read any of your other books here, although I know that I need to. Great list!
ReplyDeleteoh man, I actually haven't heard of any of these. I will have to check some of these out. Awesome list, thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I read Graceling a little while ago but I wasn't so impressed with it? Maybe I just wasn't in the mood for it that week? I don't know. I definitely want to try Fire though and I believe it's a great one... I'll have to get to it!
ReplyDeleteEee, loved some of these too. <3 Especially Graceling and Fire ;) READ BITTERBLUE ALREADY!!!! <3 Oh, and I adored Entwined too. And The Vespertine + The Springsweet :D And I enjoyed Fateful as well. Yay. Lovely post Alyssa. <3 Lots of awesome "old" books ;)
