Sweet Talk with the Sweet Sixteens: March 8th

Welcome to Week Ten of Sweet Talk with the Sweet Sixteens! To see more details about Sweet Talk as well as previous posts, see the introduction post. Thanks to Charlene (Bookish Whimsy), for designing the banner and button for Sweet Talk.

Today, I'm featuring the authors and books publishing during the week of March 8th!

The Questions:

1. Describe your debut novel in sixteen words.
2. Pitch your book! For fans of _____, _____ meets _____, etc.
3. What are you working on now – is it related to your debut novel?

The Authors:

Jenny Manzer, Author of Save Me, Kurt Cobain

1. Nico tries to solve her life’s mystery and discovers Kurt Cobain could be her real father.

2. The bittersweet edge of an A.S. King book, with a quirky journey reminiscent of WHERE'D YOU GO, BERNADETTE?

3. It's not related--but it is a YA novel. It's about a teenaged girl track star and the trouble that follows when a new coach, with a definite dark side, appears at her inner-city high school.

Jeff Zentner, Author of The Serpent King

1. Three misfits try to survive their last year together in their small Tennessee town.

2. Friday Night Lights meets WHERE THINGS COME BACK

3. My second book. It's not related to my debut, but there is a cameo from my debut.

Riley Redgate, Author of Seven Ways We Lie

1. Seven teenagers, one for each of the seven deadly sins, struggle to overcome their fatal flaws.

2. For fans of, as per my publisher, Jenny Han and Stephanie Perkins!

3. I'm working on an unrelated standalone for Abrams, also YA contemporary, slated for release in 2017.

  1. I am looking forward to Save Me , Kurt Cobain. I happen to have just read Where'd You Go, Bernadette, and knowing Cobain is quirky like that, makes it even more appealing.

  10. I actually cannot wait to read all three! I was in 8th grade when Kurt Cobain died and it had a huge impact on my life at the time, so I am maybe a little more excited about Save Me, Kurt Cobain.

  11. At first I didn't even look at The Serpent King but after reading multiple reviews I am really interested. I'm not much for any religion in my books but I think this is more than that.
