Stacking the Shelves (#88)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews, in which bloggers share the books and swag they've received in the past week!

So, what did I get in the week of Sunday, August 24th to Saturday, August 30th?

(all links to Goodreads are provided!)

In the mail:

Textbooks. Yay!

From Edelweiss:

A sampler is on Edelweiss. A SAMPLER. Still, better than nothing :D As you can see, I didn't go crazy with Harper's latest uploads. I already have Polaris, so I don't need an eARC!

Boring week in terms of books, which is totally fine with me, because I moved in on Wednesday afternoon! And then classes started on Thursday. Smart, eh? Hehe. The first two days were great though, I love my schedule and classes this semester! *feels happy*

  1. I wouldn't call it a boring week. Only adding one book gives you a chance to catch up a little. Ha ha who am I kidding. I don't think we'll ever catch up.
I'm glad you had a great start to the semester. Hope the rest is just as awesome.

    1. YES! Very true! I can at least pretend that I'm catching up.

      Thank you, Marilyn!!

  2. That's a good week! At least you didn't add to the TBR pile much since the textbooks came in. And those usually take priority sometimes! ;) LOL!

Hope you enjoy your sampler! And the textbooks too. Like that they're good subjects! ;)

My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!

    Have a GREAT day!

  4. I was kind of annoyed when I downloaded The Orphan Queen only to find out that it was a sampler. It didn't say anywhere on the EW page that it was a sampler and I'm not a reader who likes samplers.
Anyways, that's good that you already like your schedule this quarter. I start school on the 8th! Good luck with the semester and happy reading, Alyssa!

    1. It doesn't give a warning on the EW page! But I knew beforehand. I so understood the disappointment though O_O

Thank you so much, Nick! Good luck with uni this year!!

  5. Bummer, I had no idea The Orphan Queen was a sampler. I requested it from EW but I don't read samplers. Ugh. I want the real thing it sounds SO GOOD!

    1. ME TOO! I so want a full review copy. But I understand why they're doing samplers, to cut down on piracy. Understandable!

  6. I kind of didn't get it because The Orphan Queen was a sampler and I like to read whole books, not samplers, so I totally get your frustration. Textbooks take priority. Hope you have a good semester.

    1. Yup. Yup yup yup. But it was the only thing I got this week, so I'm not too disappointed.

      Thank you!

  7. I can't decide about Orphan Queen. I liked Jodi Meadow's Incarnate, but not sure about this one.

    1. I never finished Incarnate... I might, someday, but eh. The Orphan Queen definitely seems more like something I'd enjoy!

  8. Yeah, I wasn't too keen on what they had on there. Like you, I already have Polaris. I didn't request Orphan Queen because I really hate samplers. From what I understand they only released the sampler to avoid piracy.

    1. I hate samplers too, but I'm not DYING to read The Orphan Queen, so I figured I'm good. And yup, to avoid piracy. Which is good!

  14. I really don't understand samplers on review sites! You can't review a sampler. If they want to release a teaser they should release it to everyone on their own sites... grrr. I hope you have a great week!

    1. I probably will review several samplers at once - and then do full reviews for each book when I get them. I might get a sampler of The Mime Order, so who knows!

      Thank you!

  20. Good luck with school! I was so sad to see that OQ was just the sampler. I saw that before I went to DL so it was a bit less of a shock. I imagine it'll be a wonderful sample though.
