Stacking the Shelves (#84)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews, in which bloggers share the books and swag they've received in the past week!

So, what did I get in the week of Sunday, July 27th to Saturday, August 2nd?

(all links to Goodreads are provided!)

In the mail:

Thank you, Sooz! And now I have a signed set of her books - one signed hardcover, two signed ARCs. I met her back in June 2013, so I got everything signed then. And now this!

Thanks, Tor? This was sent unsolicited. I've never heard of this book... apparently it is highly environment-based, so obviously I'm all about that. I might actually read this one!

... In my defense, I had no idea Egmont was sending me an ARC. I requested the eARC from NetGalley, but they sent me an ARC as well (Kristi is awesome, y'all)! Thank you, Kristi and Egmont! JUNE 2015 ARC, YO!

Not quite book-related, but I got stickers from Cafepress! They were having a sale. Two of them ARE book-related - "I like big books and I cannot lie", and "Not all those who wander are lost". I LOVE that Tolkien. It's one of my favorite quotes of all time!

(Bonus points to whoever can guess my favorite flower, the one featured up there!)

From NetGalley:

The sequel to The Shadow Prince! I really enjoyed that book. I like the new set of covers, but I really liked book one's original cover. The new book one cover is okay. This cover (book two's) is nice, I like it.

The sequel to Burn Out! I liked Burn Out.

ETA: like I said above, I had no idea I was getting a print ARC. I got the eARC before the print ARC - the eARC being something I requested via NetGalley. The print ARC was a surprise!

From Edelweiss:

I've read all four of Paula's published books... why stop now?

Fantasy and I are cool! Very much so. I love this cover.

Um, fairy tale? YES. So much win.

Another great week, though I rounded it off not feeling very well... we'll see how the weekend goes. Can you believe it's August already?! THREE FULL WEEKS LEFT UNTIL I MOVE IN AND CLASSES BEGIN AGAIN O_O

  6. Oh wow! Everyone seems to be getting A Wicked Thing and Red Queen! I only dared request A Wicked Thing since EW takes forever to approve or in the usual case, reject, my requests. I requested on Monday with everyone else and haven't gotten answers. No idea why I struggle with EW and getting requests approved, I rarely have that problem with Netgalley and the same pubs are there! It's very disheartening.

Hope you enjoy all your new reads!!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!

    Have a GREAT day!

    1. I knew there would be a second book, but there was no mention of release date, cover, etc. You should add them, Liza!

      Thank you! <333

  9. I am planning to binge read the Something Strange & Deadly trilogy SOON! I've heard amazing things about it and I cannot wait to read it. I picked up Liars, Inc. & Red Queen from Edelweiss this week too.

    Happy reading Alyssa!

  10. Yeah, it's already August and I feel like time is getting away from me and I don't realize it, dammit!

Oooh, you got Liars, INC and Red Queen! I requested those two, so I'm hoping I might get approved! *does the pretzel*

And I also got approved for The Eternity Key, but I'm not sure what to do about it... read it now, write review and save it for later, leave it to read closer to release date??

Happy reading girl, I hope you're feeling better today!!

    1. Right?! Like, it's going to winter soon... and winter is often very cold and depressing. All those sweaters and coats and layers -.- But HOLIDAYS! They are cool!

I SO HOPE you get approvals for all of the Harper books you requested, Pili! *crosses fingers toes elbows limbs for you*

I'm definitely waiting to read/review The Eternity Key - pubs like these things done within a month or two (before the publication date). Ya know?

Thank you, Pili! I'm feeling a little better, yes!

  11. Oooooooooooooooo Liars Ink and Red Queen! I want! But I try to stay away from Edelweiss cause all the pressure of reading and reviewing on time! LOL Always wanted to try Something Strange and Deadly. Hope you enjoy the conclusion! Strange Skies looks interesting. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for stopping by!

    1. Awww, I know what you mean, Jennifer! It's hard sometime, which is why I totally limited myself. I didn't really enjoy Strange and Ever After (which is why I didn't mention that fact in this post), but that's okay.

      Thank you!!

    1. Right?! I'm thinking of putting it on my laptop, as a skin. And I certainly did limit myself with those Harper books! A girl's gotta be picky and catch a break, even if she doesn't want to, you know? But sometimes she can't help herself ;) Thank you!

  13. Strange Skies, sounds like a nice surprise! The Shadow Prince wasn't a favourite of mine but I really liked the style of the original cover, kind of feel like the sequel could be any other YA now. :( But, it is pretty, but still, preferred the other style. Happy reading! :)

  19. I think unsolicited books are the best, since you don't know they're coming and they're such a fun surprise! Though, sometimes I feel bad because I know I'm never going to read them... June 2015 ARC already? Geeeeeez, they're ahead on their game! Last week was such a happy Edelweiss/Harper week. :D
