"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week, I'm featuring:
Dreams of Gods and Monsters by Laini Taylor
Publisher: Little, Brown and Company
Publication Date: April 8, 2014
Summary (from Goodreads):
By way of a staggering deception, Karou has taken control of the chimaera rebellion and is intent on steering its course away from dead-end vengeance. The future rests on her, if there can even be a future for the chimaera in war-ravaged Eretz.
Common enemy, common cause.
When Jael's brutal seraph army trespasses into the human world, the unthinkable becomes essential, and Karou and Akiva must ally their enemy armies against the threat. It is a twisted version of their long-ago dream, and they begin to hope that it might forge a way forward for their people.
And, perhaps, for themselves. Toward a new way of living, and maybe even love.
But there are bigger threats than Jael in the offing. A vicious queen is hunting Akiva, and, in the skies of Eretz ... something is happening. Massive stains are spreading like bruises from horizon to horizon; the great winged stormhunters are gathering as if summoned, ceaselessly circling, and a deep sense of wrong pervades the world.
What power can bruise the sky?
From the streets of Rome to the caves of the Kirin and beyond, humans, chimaera and seraphim will fight, strive, love, and die in an epic theater that transcends good and evil, right and wrong, friend and enemy.
At the very barriers of space and time, what do gods and monsters dream of? And does anything else matter?
Okay, so I actually haven't read the second book. But I LOVED the first book, and I plan on binge-reading the second and third book. CAN'T WAIT! :D
I just wrote the review for the second book, which i read ages ago (bad reviewer) and I can not wait for this one!! The second one broke my heart into pieces.
ReplyDeleteOMG! I haven't read it yet, but the broken heart aspect is what I'm trying to avoid. Binge-reading for the win!
DeleteI still haven't read the first book but I've been meaning to for a while! Hope I'll get to it soon. Thanks for stopping by :)
ReplyDeleteYou definitely should! It's beautiful. I can't say that about many books, but it really is beautiful.
DeleteI have heard really good things about this series! Every time I go to my library I see them there but something keeps me from getting them! (Oh, probably my already massive TBR!) LOL. Anyways. Great pick Alyssa!
ReplyDeleteI bet you would like this series, Jessica! But I totally understand - my ARC/eARC list has me on a short leash lol
DeleteI still haven't started reading this series but I have heard amazing things about this one. Maybe I'll get to read it once this book is out. Hope you'll get it soon :)
ReplyDeleteTanja @ Ja Ĩitam, a ti?

The covers are definitely some of Little, Brown's best. Definitely pretty to look at!
DeleteI was going to be all shamefaced because I haven't read the second book yet either, but no need! I like the binge reading idea and might have to join you. :) The first book was awesome!!
ReplyDeleteHaha definitely not! We should re-read the first one, and then binge-read the second one together :D
DeleteI loved both the first and second books and can't wait for this!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for stopping by! Jen @ YA Romantics
That is so good to hear! Hopefully, this one rocks our world.
DeleteOH yes! I love this series as well. I hope you enjoy the second and third as much as you did the first - Daughter of Smoke and Bone was AWESOME!
ReplyDeleteI know right?! Hopefully, you all will get an ARC ;)
DeleteJeez, I haven't even read the first book. Actually . . . (confession time) I never finished it. It was pretty awesome until I hit a rough patch that I didn't get past. The same thing happened with Shadow and Bone (around the same time as Daughter of Smoke and Bone, too), but when I attempted it again, I finished it and gave it 4.5 stars, then read the sequel a week later and rated that 5 stars. So, anyway. I'm excited for the new book in the series because I'm quite positive I'll love the first book when I go back and try it again (because I know from experience).
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by my WoW!
I know exactly what you mean, Kaitlin. I am having that problem with Through the Ever Night. I started it back in early January, and I still haven't finished it yet lol. I'm sure you'll love Daughter of Smoke and Bone, when you try again!
DeleteI haven't started reading this series. I hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteMy WoW
Thank you, Sandra!
DeleteAgh, another series I have yet to start! Sometimes I just feel SO BEHIND. The titles are so cool though, and that cover is fantastic. So just for that, I totally approve ;)
ReplyDeleteDo like, a series challenge in 2014! Someone mentioned that. I hope you read the books, Jessica!
