Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews, in which bloggers share the books and swag they've received in the past week!
So, what did I get in the week of Sunday, January 22nd to Saturday, January 28th?
(all links to Goodreads are provided!)
In the mail:
Welp, I already got a copy from Penguin (my review is posted!). I don't know why they sent me another. I'll see if I can hunt down a collector!
Unsolicited and new to me! Thank you, HMH. I may actually give this one a chance.
New to me, unsolicited, and probably not my thing. Any MG readers out there? (Thank you, S&S!)
Friends! The spring semester is starting on Monday, so I'll be back to posting random book hauls and being sparse on social media. Best of luck to all fellow students!
Ooh nice! Those are new to me ones! Though I am aware of the first one! Weird that they sent you two. Hope you can find a collector! Enjoy the new reads!
ReplyDeleteMy STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
I know, it was a little odd. I was like, did I sign up for something and forget? LOL. Thank you, Jessica!
DeleteThings I Should Have Known looks like it's going to be good. Can't wait to hear about it!
ReplyDeleteDanica @ Shelves of Spines
STS
I think I might actually read it, so I'll be sure to post something about it if I do!
DeleteI so want the Dark Days Pact. I loved the first book. That cover looks awesome. Great haul of books.
ReplyDeleteGrace @ Books of Love
Oooo! I hope you enjoy this new book! The ending, Grace, THE ENDING. D:
DeleteI've been meaning to try Claire LeZebnik. I didn't realize she had a new one.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your books, Alyssa!
You know, I've read one book by LaZebnik, and I enjoyed it... I'm hoping this one will also be good. :D Thank you, Sophia!
DeleteBest of luck in the new semester, Alyssa! I know you'll do great, as usual. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kel! Same to you!
DeleteThings I Should Have Known and Spurt are both new to me. How strange that you ended up getting a second copy of The Dark Days Pact. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThey are new to me as well. :D Thank you, Carole!
DeleteGreat looking books! Hope you enjoy them, Alyssa :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week ahead, and good luck with the new semester!
Amy @ A Magical World Of Words
Thanks, Amy! I need to all the luck I can get. ^_^
DeleteHappy reading and hope you have a great semester. Mine already started and I only have one class but boy at my age it's enough...lol. Never thought going back to school would be so tough on my mind...lol. :)
ReplyDeleteOooo, best of luck with your class! You've got this!
DeleteIt's always so awesome to get freebies in the mail that just happen to be books! hugs....
ReplyDeleteBooks are the best kind of mail! Books, and bookish goodies... ;)
DeleteI really need to read The Dark Days Club! I got it more or less as soon as it came out, but then... got distracted. Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteIt was awesome, Nikki! I highly recommend the series.
DeleteThank you! You too. ^_^
Haven't heard of these but they sound pretty interesting. I hope you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eve!
DeleteAll of your books are new to me. Hope you enjoy and find some time to read when you get back in school.
ReplyDeleteThanks, I won't be able to read nearly as much, unfortunately!
DeleteThings I Should Have Known looks good!
ReplyDeleteIt does!
DeleteOhh The Dark Days Pact has a pretty cover and it sounds like a good one. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteIt's a new look for the series! I liked the original cover, but meh, it's all good. Thank you, Teresa!
DeleteI'm so happy you got ARC's! Enjoy your week!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jackie!
DeleteGreat haul this week. I gave The Things I Should Have Known three stars, it was really good but some of the characters just made me really mad. I hope you like it more than me. Good luck with your Spring Semester.
ReplyDeleteHere is my STS
Huh, I'm curious... I hope I like it. Thank you, Aneta!
DeleteI received an eARC of Things I Should Have Known! She's a new to me author, but one of my favourite authors (and friends) is in a group with her, so I wanted to check out her writing! I hope we both enjoy it. Hope you have a great new semester!
ReplyDeleteI read one of her previous books, and I liked it. It was a great Persuasion retelling. :D Thank you, Lenore!
DeleteNice haul. Hope you enjoy Things I Should Have Known. - Katie
ReplyDeleteThanks, Katie! <333
DeleteGood luck on your new semester, Alyssa! I got some random double copies this week, too--lol, must be the week for it! xD
ReplyDeleteThey REALLY want us to read their books. ;)
DeleteI keep seeing Things I Should Have Known everywhere. I hope you'll enjoy it! I'll probably pick it up someday, too :))
ReplyDeleteYasmine @ Swissbookworm
My Stacking the Shelves
I hope the same for you, if you read it!
DeleteI have a copy of Things I Should Have Known, too, Alyssa Susanna. I hope we'll both enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteIt's weird that a publisher sent you two copies of the same ARC... maybe there was a switch in people who are responsible for that particular author?
Have a wonderful week ahead and happy reading. Good luck with your spring semester - you can do it!
Lexxie @ (un)Conventional Bookviews
Nope, same publicist! I'm not really sure what happened there.
DeleteThank you, Lexxie! =)
Great haul! I hope you have a great new semester. Things I should Have Known sounds like it's going to be really good!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week!
Thank you so much, Julie! Have a lovely week to you. <3
DeleteThings I Should Have Known looks really good! I have the first one in Goodman's series but I haven't read it yet. Thanks for stopping by Alyssa and I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteZareena @ The Slanted Bookshelf
Make sure you get a chance to read The Dark Days Club! The series is so good (though this sequel ends on such a cliffhanger). Thank you, Zareena!
DeleteI have Goodman's first book The Dark Days Club to look forward too, especially with all the great reviews coming through I can't wait to get started. I also hadn't heard of Lazebnik's newest book, so I shall be checking out what it's about. I hope you have a great week Alyssa! :)
ReplyDeleteI liked it a lot! I hope you get a chance to read the trilogy. This new LaZebnik book was unfamiliar to me, but I've read one of her books in the past. I think I might like this one, but we'll see.
DeleteThank you, Jasprit! :D
Looks like a couple of good books! I still need to read the first book in the series of that one. Hope you enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Sunday Post
I hope you get a chance to do so! Thanks, Lisa. ^_^
DeleteOoooh! The Dark Days Pact looks really good! So weird that they sent you two! Haha! Have a great week :D
ReplyDeleteHere's my Weekly Recap!
It is a little strange! Thank you, Tracy!
DeleteNice books, don´t know any of them but I hope you´ll enjoy them. All the best for your spring semester! Happy reading & happy learning :-)
ReplyDeleteBest wishes
Vi @ Gone With The Books
Thank you so much, Vi! I need all the luck I can get. ^_^
DeleteI hope your semester goes well! I still need to read The Dark Days Club!
ReplyDelete-Lauren
Thank you! I highly recommend the series, Lauren!
DeleteAhhh! Best of luck with the semester starting tomorrow :) I'm sure it will be awesome. <3 All the hugs :) And eee, yay for so many gorgeous books :D Totally jealous of The Dark Days Pact, lol, want it. <3 So pretty :D Happy reading Alyssa. <3
ReplyDeleteI hope so - thank you! Happy reading to you too!
DeleteI've had my eye on "things I should have Known." Hope you enjoy them all!
ReplyDeleteI hope you get a chance to read that one, Annette!
DeleteGood luck with your spring semester!! Things I Should Have Known by Claire LaZebnik looks interesting!!
ReplyDeleteIt does! And thank you, Kristyn! <3
DeleteI hope spring semester is awesome and quick! I need to read Dark Days Club, still, but it's been on my list. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteHoping for both of those things. ;) I highly recommend the series, Natalie!
DeleteThe Dark Days Pact! I won an arc of the first book last year and I haven't gotten around to reading it oops. I do love looking at the book though, it's just so pretty. What do you think of the cover change? I heard of Things I Should Have Known last year at a preview event and I'm very much looking forward to it. I hope you love it!
ReplyDeleteGood lucky with the new semester!!
I loved the original design. :( But this new design isn't bad. Have you noticed that Penguin (USA) has changed the series' cover before the second book publishes in SO MANY new series, recently? It's kind of annoying, even if the new covers are great too. -_-
DeleteThank you, Eileen!
Good luck with spring semester! LOL on the multiple copies. I had one pub send me three of the same book and then an ecopy. I was like dude!
ReplyDeleteThey were making sure you read the book, right? :D
DeleteIts such a weird feeling to get unsolicited mail isn't it? Its kind of like hey thanks a lot...but I dont really know what to do with this...
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your new semester :)
Nereyda│ Nick & Nereyda’s Infinite Booklist
Yeah! Like, thanks for this but how about the stuff I actually requested? LOL. Thank you, Nereyda!
DeleteI know you've probably been asked this a thousand times...I have emailed pubs about review copies and I have only heard back from Sourcefire (they are awesome) and Scholastic. Very positive responses. I have mailed Macmillan and Penguin and HarperCollins (though I'm not sure I have the right email for HC) and haven't heard anything back.
ReplyDeleteAm I doing this all wrong? I put my stats in (and they are good), and I try to request a specific book instead of just emailing blindly.
Any advice you can give? I can do it via email or Twitter DM if you don't want to fill up your thread.
Thanks!
@TeacherofYA (a loyal WP follower who doesn't have a blogspot blog anymore)
Sourcebooks and Scholastic are great! You might never hear from HarperCollins (their YA divisions, anyway), and Mac and Penguin. They've become soooo selective in who they communicate with.
DeleteThe thing is, you might think your stats are good (for you), but compared to 39434573498638475 other bloggers, your stats might be a drop in a large bucket. I know that feeling all too well. There are just entirely too many YA bloggers out there!
If you want to email me, I can give a more detailed response as to what you could do! =)
