Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews, in which bloggers share the books and swag they've received in the past week!
So, what did I get in the week of Sunday, January 1st to Saturday, January 7th?
(all links to Goodreads are provided!)
In the mail:
YAY! Thank you for the trade, Becky! I've read this one and really loved it; this ARC copy is for my Bracken collection!
Another trade, this time from Katie. I'm not too familiar with this book but really wanted her to have the book I had that she was looking for. Thanks, Katie!
Trade again, thank you, Tracy! I wasn't really dying to have the book (I've read Black Ice and really liked it though), but I wanted Tracy to have the book I had that she was looking for. :D
From NetGalley:
Huge thanks to the publicist for sending the widget. I also learned that there won't be bound galleys printed for this book! I'm doubly grateful for the electronic invite to read it. =)
From Edelweiss:
Once I got confirmation that there is no love triangle in this book (there isn't), I downloaded it immediately! It sounds perfect for me (we NEED more YA with strong environmental themes!).
That's my week in books! I can't believe a week of 2017 has passed already. I went back to uni to work, and it feels like so much time has passed. Longest week ever! I'm already very used to it being 2017. A heads up - I'm using the four weeks of "winter break" that I have, to study for the FE exam (think of it as the engineering version of the MCAT). Study is going... okay? I pretty much have to relearn every single engineering class I've taken in college (and teach myself a few that I haven't taken yet). I just need to pass it, it doesn't matter the score!
Love triangles are real dealbreakers for me and I will avoid them no matter what! Good luck with your studies and enjoy your books!
ReplyDeleteI hate them! I had to be sure that the book didn't have a love triangle. :D Thank you!
DeleteWow lovely books! I read Black Ice a while ago and while I didn't love it (the characters were annoying) I adored the creepy atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the engineering classes; re-learning?! That's a pain! Hope it goes ok :)
Happy reading!
I liked it! It was so twisted.
DeleteThank you, Amy!
Neat that you can do some wheeling and dealing to get books you want and have the pleasure of giving others what they want.
ReplyDeleteCheering you on for your FEs. :)
Yes! Most of my recent trades have been to help others get what they're looking for, because I have a lot of old ARCs and books.
DeleteThank you, Sophia!
OOoh nice!! Some good trades going on here!! I enjoyed Black Ice myself! Hope you enjoy the new reads to this haul, and of course enjoyed the pretties for the collections!! ;)
ReplyDeleteMy STS will be up tomorrow, so stop by then if you can!
Have a GREAT day!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Tammy! I hope you enjoy The Sandcastle Empire!
DeleteGood luck on the FE exam!! I hope you still get time to relax a little and read some good books in between studying. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kel! Relaxing will come after, well, after. I'm taking the exam after the first week of class begins! D:
DeleteGood luck on your exams. I went to Alexandra Brackens signing at Books of Wonder and got her to sign my copy of Passenger and Wayfarer. Great haul.
ReplyDeleteGrace @ Books of Love

Black Ice is my favorite Fitzpatrick book! I've read all of her books and this one is the best (in my opinion). I really liked Hush, Hush though. :D Thank you!

I really want to start The Fallen Kingdom series. I've always loved the covers of them.
ReplyDeleteSAME! The US (and UK) covers are amazing. ^_^ The series is really good too!
DeleteI still need to read Passengers, eek! I haven't read anything by Bracken yet, so I'm looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteIt's good place to start! I highly recommend Brightly Woven as well. :D
DeleteYou got some great books this week! Wayfarer especially I am pretty excited about! I really need to get a physical copy of that soon - I have the e-arc but I want a hardcover to go with my copy of the first book!
ReplyDeleteLook up the Target version - there is a bonus in the back! I already have a "normal" hardcover but I want the Target version too. LOL!
DeleteI still need to read Passenger, but it's been on my list forever. Good luck on your exam!! I'm sure you will rock it!
ReplyDeleteIt's a good one, Nat! And thank you. <333
DeleteI love how wonderful you are about helping people trade for the books they really want. I'm working to do better with that, but I rarely seem to have anything people really, really want. :-( I need to read Passenger soon, I hear such great things about it! I hope that you have a great week ahead!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my Sunday Post
I try! In some ways, they are helping ME. ;) I hope you get the chance to read Passenger, Lisa! The duology is awesome. :D
DeleteOh I remember really liking Black Ice and the cover is so pretty so deff worth having on the shelf!
ReplyDeleteI liked it a lot! Hence why I was okay with trading for it - it's gorgeous and a great story. ;)
DeleteEnjoy your books, and have a great week!

ReplyDeleteThanks, Danya! I am going to drown myself in reading this year. ;) I love The Falconer trilogy!
DeleteGood luck on your engineering exam!! Relearning is never fun! The Fallen Kingdom by Elizabeth May looks great! Happy Reading!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Jennifer! I'm pretty proud of myself. ;)
DeleteLots of luck to you on the exam!
ReplyDeleteI think it's great that you trade books so others can get the titles they want. I haven't done an organized trade before, but I swap on PBS. I try to get books that my daughter would like -- she really enjoys the newest reads.
Dianna
Thank you, Dianna! Ill need all of the luck I can get.
DeleteI use #booksfortrade on Twitter! It's really great, and most people are AMAZING.

Thank you and THANK YOU! <3333
DeleteYou got Fallen Kingdom already?!?!
ReplyDeleteRight?! It's so early! I can't imagine starting it so early but I might (might) read it in February. I'm really anxious to read it so the review pile might get thrown out of the window for this book!
DeleteUgly sobbing. I won't get to read The Fallen Kingdom until this summer :( SOBS. I shall try to email them too :) Fingers crossed. But yeah.. I got declined on Netgalley weeks ago :\ Ugh. But yeah. I waaant it too :) Hope you love it Alyssa. <3 And yay for other gorgeous books too :D Eee. Happy reading sweetie. <3
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry! :/ Hopefully the wait is worth it! (I'm sure it will be!)
