Stacking the Shelves (#202)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews, in which bloggers share the books and swag they've received in the past week!

So, what did I get in the week of Sunday, October 30th to Saturday, November 5th?

(all links to Goodreads are provided!)

In the mail:

Various posters from Susan Dennard

Thank you, Sooz! I won these from a giveaway. They are amazing!

The Midnight Star preorder goodies

Woohoo! Thank you, Penguin! I loooove these. I enjoyed The Midnight Star and can't wait for my hardcover to arrive (in March, because of grouped shipping. Whoops!)

Thank you, Swoon Reads! This was unsolicited but I may actually read it. :D

From NetGalley:

I LOVE Samanthe Beck's books! Super excited about this one.

From Amazon:

I've read one of the books in this series, and enjoyed it. This one is currently free!

Friends, I cannot believe it is November. Where has the time gone? I feel like I didn't accomplish anything in October. School was better this week, but I wasn't feeling well towards the end of the week. Overall, it wasn't bad though. I wish I could read more often during the week.

This Tuesday coming is Election Day here in the U.S. - I am terrified of the outcome. I already know I won't be getting any work done that night. Will anyone be doing any watch parties?

  1. I really am scared about this Tuesday. You got some interesting books this week. Remember to take one thing at a time. I hope you love all of your new books this week.

    1. Hopefully things will end up... okay? Honestly either way, there are going to be emotions running really high. We'll see how it goes. D:

      Thank you, Grace!

  2. Ah, sorry you're not feeling well. At least you have some good books to keep you company. The outcome of Tuesday's vote is definitely heavy on my mind.

    Have a good week, Alyssa!

  5. Oh bummer! It sucks being sick and having to deal with school too! I hope you feel better soon! I honestly can't wait for this election to be over. I'm not very political myself but all these commercials are driving me bonkers! LOL!

Nice new reads! Totally new to me ones! Hope you enjoy them!!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

  6. I feel you on October, I never feel like I accomplish enough during this time of year! School is a nightmare too. #deathtomidterms

The elections has me scared too, and I don't even live in the US. But the outcome will definitely impact Canada, so there are a ton of people I know who're hosting watch parties. To be honest though, the idea of watching the election results come in with a bunch of people is my hell. I need to privately angst about it, LOL.

    1. This is true! Fall just never seems productive enough.

This election will impact the world! I feel like no matter the outcome, we're all kind of screwed... we'll see how it goes. o_o

  7. Don't remind me. It is NOT supposed to November already. November means starting a new job and only 1 month until finals. I'm not ready.

I hope you're not getting sick! And no stress over the election. Can't say I like either of the choices, but ultimately, vote, then wait and see. Not much else you can do about it, right? And no watch party for me. I start the new job Wednesday (which will involve more hours than before) so I need every spare second to stay on top of homework...and sneaking in reading. ;)

    1. Right?! How dare time move so quickly! I can't handle finals... and final projects... and final papers... nope, I need another month in addition to the remaining month.

Not sick, in the contagious sense! I'm a lot better now.

I may do a watch party with a friend, simply because we need to stay sane somehow, while waiting for results.

OMG! Best of luck with the new job!

  8. No watch party for me as I'll be busy packing in case one candidate wins. Lol okay joking but yeah I'm stressing a bit about the election. Will be so glad when it's over! I'll probably just watch the election returns online to skip all the TV stuff and hope for the best. :)

    Have a great reading week!

  10. Ohhhh look at the poster for the new Strange and Ever After! I love the original covers but these new ones really represent the series well! And I grabbed Hold Me Until Midnight this week as well; couldnt pass up a free Brazen. Happy reading!

    1. Isn't it cool? I liked the original covers as well, but they didn't quite fit the series. These new covers definitely do.

I was thinking the same thing! Free Brazen book? Yup, I'm all about it. Glad you got it as well, Teresa! =)

  11. EVERYONE GET OUT AND VOTE! I voted early and I love that I am able to do that. My hubby is a newshound, so we will be glued to the TV. No party though. It will be hard enough as it is. 'fingers crossed'

  12. I'm looking forward to seeing what you think of the Samanthe Beck one. I like her books a lot, but the last one I read from her wasn't that great. Plus, honestly, I feel like the latest Brazen books haven't been all that, even from fave authors.
Nereyda got that Swoon Reads books too and she got 3 copies! LOL! She was considering sending one to you.
I'm going to be a nervous wreck on Tuesday too. I mean I'm not even a voter, but still. This election has been quite the mess.
I hope you have a better week, Alyssa!

  14. I've never read Susan Dennard, but I hope you enjoy! ⭐️⭐️ Swoon reads has published a few good books lately. One I loved loved loved, was Unhinged by Chani Lynn Feener and it comes out next month. I read the series when it was self pubbed and am waiting to finish the last book bc it was so good! Anyway, great week!

  15. I don't even remember October. It went way too fast and now it's November. I can't even think about the Election yet and I'm guessing I'll be up late watching the results.

Enjoy your books and have a great week!

Oh I hear ya about the election. Neither of them are what we need for President. It's like choosing between being shot or stabbed. Hehe

  18. I hope you feel better Alyssa! I'm actually listening to Truthwitch right now and really enjoying it! I can't say that I love it though. Since I'm a minor and can't vote, I'm not going to be watching the election with a party, but I'll be watching it with my mom! We both support the same candidate, and I hoping that they win!!

  19. The Midnight Star goodies look awesome!! I need to read TRS and TMS. I hope you're better this week!
For Election Day, I'll probably have my TV on (for the US elections since that affects Puerto Rico) in my room and my parents will have theirs on (for the PR elections since it's the same day). I'll be running from room to room to not miss anything haha
