"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week, I'm featuring:
Truthwitch by Susan Dennard
Book One of The Witchlands series
Publisher: Tor Teen
Publication Date: January 5, 2016
Summary (from Goodreads):
On a continent ruled by three empires, some are born with a “witchery”, a magical skill that sets them apart from others.
In the Witchlands, there are almost as many types of magic as there are ways to get in trouble—as two desperate young women know all too well.
Safiya is a Truthwitch, able to discern truth from lie. It’s a powerful magic that many would kill to have on their side, especially amongst the nobility to which Safi was born. So Safi must keep her gift hidden, lest she be used as a pawn in the struggle between empires.
Iseult, a Threadwitch, can see the invisible ties that bind and entangle the lives around her—but she cannot see the bonds that touch her own heart. Her unlikely friendship with Safi has taken her from life as an outcast into one of reckless adventure, where she is a cool, wary balance to Safi’s hotheaded impulsiveness.
Safi and Iseult just want to be free to live their own lives, but war is coming to the Witchlands. With the help of the cunning Prince Merik (a Windwitch and ship’s captain) and the hindrance of a Bloodwitch bent on revenge, the friends must fight emperors, princes, and mercenaries alike, who will stop at nothing to get their hands on a Truthwitch.
I'm excited for something new by Dennard! And as a Witchlander of the Water clan, I must be! :)
I'm super excited for this one too! I haven't read any of her books yet, but I have something strange and deadly waiting for me on my shelf!! :) Hope you get your hands on it soon!
ReplyDeleteHopefully you enjoy that trilogy more than I did! I stuck it out though :D Thank you, Cyra!
DeleteYou always come up with such amazing books, Alyssa. This one sounds intriguing and I love the striking cover.
ReplyDeleteHappy midweek! Hope things are going good for you.
*blushes* Thank you! I try :D Hope you're having a great week as well, Marilyn!
DeleteThe hype for this book is kind of terrifying. I'm worried about starting the series because I HATED how Dennard's previous series ended. And this one is 4 books long too! Waiting in between is going to hurt. I do love the cover though and I hope you'll love it! :)
ReplyDeleteAgreed! I'm only reading this one immediately if I get an ARC. Otherwise, I will wait and binge-read. The SS&D series was not good for me either!
DeleteI am very excited about this one. The hype for it is amazing!
