Blog Tour Interview with Michelle Madow, Author of Diamonds in the Rough (and GIVEAWAY!)

Welcome to the blog tour for Diamonds in the Rough by Michelle Madow! Today, I have an awesome interview post for you with Michelle. Stick around for the giveaway at the bottom of the post!

The Interview:

Meet Michelle!

Alyssa: Hi, Michelle! Thank you so much for joining me today on my blog! So, the last time I interviewed you on my blog, I asked you which of the boys is your favorite - Damian, Brett, Nick, Oliver, Jackson. Same question, now that book two is over and book three is to come?

Michelle: My favorite guy to write in Diamonds in the Rough was Oliver! His storyline in this book pushed him to dig deeper into his feelings for a certain someone, and I loved showing that he does, in fact, have a heart beneath the playboy exterior. He goes through a lot in the book, and I hope you enjoy reading about him as much as I loved writing about him.

Alyssa: Which girl’s evolution is the most dramatic and significant to you? To me, Savannah changes the most, but all four narrators change on some level in book two.

Michelle: The narrator whose story has always been most dramatic and significant to me in Diamonds in the Rough is Madison. As it says in the book description, Madison uncovers a HUGE secret in this book that changes everything. This secret is revealed in Chapter Four (the first one Madison narrates), and from there, her character took off for me. I always knew this secret would be part of this story, and seeing how it transformed Madison was my favorite part about writing this book. I can’t wait for readers to see this entirely different side to her.

Alyssa: How are you liking these covers so far?? :D

Michelle: I LOVE my covers so much! When I first saw them, I stared at them for hours, because I think they’re so beautiful and perfectly get across the vibe of the series. Seeing them on the bookshelves is such a surreal, crazy-cool experience.

Alyssa: Love triangles? Yea or nay? Can you say anything about the potential ones in this series? Are they intended to be love triangles?

Michelle: “Triangle” is too neat of a term for the love stories in this series, because they’re SO much messier than that. First of all, not all the romances in this series are love. Some are crushes, some are lust, some are thinking you’re interested in someone but they don’t turn out to be who you imagined them to be, and—of course—some are love ;) The narrators are four different people, at various ages, with four different ways of approaching love. The one common thread is that all of their relationships—whether they’re good, bad, one-sided, mutual, fizzle out, grow, etc.—help the characters develop as people and learn who they are.

Alyssa: Do you think you’ll be writing a novella for the series? With someone else’s story that isn't quite featured prominently?

Michelle: I don’t have plans for a novella, but I do have ideas for a spin-off series involving a minor character. That’s all I’m going to say about that at this point, though! ;)

Alyssa: What are you currently working on in terms of Young Adult projects - something new? Anything contracted?

Michelle: I’ve finished the first draft of Diamonds are Forever, the third book in the Secret Diamond Sisters series, and am currently working on my first round of edits for that book. I actually prefer to use the term “rewrites” instead of “first round of edits,” because that’s usually what it ends up being!

Alyssa: And that’s it from me! Thank you so much for stopping by my blog, Michelle!
