An Update on Things

Hi lovelies! *taps microphone*

It's been a while since THIS post, in which I totally vented my frustration on my blog, something that I never, ever do. I try very, very hard not to incorporate my personal life into my blog, but things just kind of spilled over, and my frustration and drama was just too much for me, or any one person.

So, I apologize if anyone was turned off by my personal post. If my personal life is suffering, you can be sure that the blog will suffer too. Comments went down, pageviews went down, the number of posts went down. Sure, I still had a post for every day, even though I didn't have a computer for nearly two weeks, and then when I got it back, I went straight into two weeks of finals. But things definitely slowed down.

So here's the lowdown of things in the last few weeks:

- I got my laptop back on May 2nd. The motherboard was replaced, so it was working again. However, I couldn't connect to the Internet, no matter where I was. The wireless connection was poor to nonexistent.

- That's my current problem: I'm home, and I can't connect to the Internet, without sitting directly next to the router and plugging in an ethernet cable. Annoying much? A technician from Dell is coming to change some parts, and hopefully that will fix the problem. No one is sure about anything though.

- I'd been studying for finals since May 2nd, and finished my finals on May 14th. I moved out on May 14th. Yay, first year of college over!

- I go back to Hopkins for summer classes on May 27th. I live in Baltimore, so I'll be traveling back and forth, but that means I'll leave my house at 8:00 am, and reach back home around 7:00 pm. I'm taking Physics and Physics lab - no pansy classes, mind you.

- I had to turn down a really great environmental-science-related (paid) internship, located right here in Baltimore, in order to take those summer classes. I couldn't do both (believe me, I tried). I have to take those two classes now, because of prerequisites and other important things. So, the internship got the boot, unfortunately :(

- Speaking of boots. The World Cup begins on June 12th! If you anything about me, you know that I've always been a huge soccer and tennis fan (a sports fan in general, really). So. GET READY FOR THE WORLD CUP :D

I think that's it. I'm really sick of this crap with my computer. I'm sick at heart because of the internship, but at the same time, taking those summer classes is a really smart move. And I'll get to see one of my best friends ;) Also, I'm one of those people that ALWAYS needs to be working. It's a good thing! The busier I am, the more pressure that is on me, the more I get done and the better/more quality the work is.

Anyway. That's my life in a nutshell. Ish. There is this huge part that I'm leaving out, but for good reason. This post covers everything ELSE :D

Thank you all for sticking with me! You're awesome and fabulous and wonderful people. Cheers!

  1. Damned computer!! I do hope the DELL people will get it fixed for good, so you can use the laptop anywhere!
Bummer about the internship, but if the two clases won the competition it must have been for good reason!
Just get loads of reading time now!
    *big hugs*

    1. Dell needs to get their act together! I'm 100% certain that whatever they fixed the first time, messed up something this second time around. Gilipollas.

And I'm trying to tell myself that next year will have plenty of opportunities! I'm definitely going to take advantage of the extra time and read :D

      *huggles* Thank you, Pili!

  2. Sorry to hear about your struggles! Thought I'd let you know I'm a huge soccer fan too...are you going to the Spain vs. El Salvador match right there in your own backyard? I'm in DC and got tickets to take my son, who plays travel/club soccer (and whose goal is to play for Barcelona someday). Should be a great game! :)

    1. Ooo, Nevaeh, awesome! I meet be going, it depends on if I can get tickets for myself and a friend, and transportation. I'm a huge Spain fan, and more specifically, Real Madrid. Good luck to your son! That's a huge dream, to play for Barcelona. I'll be looking out for him in the future ;)

  3. Aw, I didn't know you were going through some things. I hope things are on the mend and continue to improve. The computer/internet things seem incredibly annoying. I hope you get some rest, reading time and a good internet connection!

  4. Ouch. This sounds like one of those times when it's almost worth it to start fresh with a new computer rather than continue fixing the old one. Except for the whole expense thing. :( Have you tried a USB wireless add-on by any chance? It might not work happily with your built-in wireless chip, but if that's down, it might work fine.

That's a shame about the internship, but I'm glad you're looking at the big picture and scheduling accordingly. There's always next year, right? :)

Take it easy and don't work too hard!

    1. I think I should get a new one... I need the money though ;) I have not tried that! And there are definitely more opportunities in the future.

Thank you very much, Kel <3

  5. :( I'm sorry things aren't going so well right now! I hope the Dell man is able to get your computer completely fixed! Not having internet is such a big inconvenience.

As for the internship, it sucks that you had to turn it down, but it sounds like the right decision. I'm sure you can get it again next year OR something better! Colleges are so weird about scheduling and if you don't get the pre-reqs done when you can, you're often screwed and your entire schedule is messed up and you can't graduate on time. You've got plenty of time to get more internships! :)

Enjoy your last week of freedom and relax before things get crazy again! :D

    1. Well, it's fixed now! The tech guy came today, and he figured out what was wrong. PHEW.

I know I made the right decision, it was just a really difficult one. Next year!

Thank you so much, Rachel! <3

  6. I was just wondering about the World Cup the other day. I don't know why but I was looking at something and for some reason I thought to myself "Isn't it about time for the World Cup again?" I'm not a sports fan though but my husband is. I'm sure I'll be stuck listening to it too once it starts.
