Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews, in which bloggers share the books and swag they've received in the past week!
So, what did I get in the week of Sunday, December 29th to Saturday, January 4th?
(all links to Goodreads are provided!)
In the mail:
Ooo, what's in the box? :D
A hardcover copy of Classical Mythology by Nancy Conner
Two other things that I didn't feature in this picture because they are how-to kits...
Yes, this girl is an engineering major. But this girl loves the classics. I have this idea that has been swirling in my head for over a year, set in Ancient Greece, and heavily involving Greek mythology. That explains the first two books. I feel like EVERYONE should have a copy of Grimm's Fairy Tales. That explains that. The two how-to kits that I didn't feature are for me to challenge myself to learn things.
Barnes & Noble had a SALE, people. Go look, if you haven't yet!
From NetGalley:
Soooo excited to read this sequel! SQUEE!
And that was my week. I'm going back to school on Sunday, for three weeks of winter classes. Joy!
Awesome Haul Alyssa OMGoodness I would love to get my hands on the Grimm's Fairy Tales Book I just love and adore Grimm stories! Thanks for sharing Alyssa!
ReplyDeleteIt's like, $4 at Barnes & Noble's site! I love them too, which is why I had to get a copy. My pleasure!
DeleteOOoh very nice!! I LOVE Greek mythology myself! A good Greek mythology book is called Mythology by Edith Hamilton! I read it a few years ago, before blogging, and it was a very nice one! And Grimm! Oh how I LOVE Grimm! I got one of the complete collections myself back in the days of Borders & Waldenbooks! Hope you enjoy all your new reads!
ReplyDeleteMy STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)

Great Imaginations
I loved the first book - it was so original and unique and I was all like O_O Thank you, Bekka!
DeleteThat Grimm's Complete Fairytale Guide is really cool. I haven't read any of the original fairy tales, although I definitely want to eventually. Paranoia also sounds great. I've heard some pretty good things about the first one in that series :) I hope you enjoy all your books!
ReplyDeleteI haven't read too many of the originals, so I thought it was a good idea. I was one of the ones who loved Insomnia, so I hope Paranoia is just as good! Thank you!
DeleteI haven't heard of any of these books, but they look really interesting! Thanks for stopping by Spun With Words.
ReplyDeleteCool! You're welcome.
DeleteI really want to check out the J.R. Johansson series. I heard some good things about the first one, but never got around to getting my hands on a copy. Great haul!
ReplyDeleteJanina
My Haul!
It was excellent! I really enjoyed it.
DeleteParanoia looks really epic. And I love receiving package. (: I've never heard of those books before, but I hope you enjoy them. You're an engineering major? Dang girl! You get'em. :D
ReplyDeleteEngineering and Spanish, actually. But my primary major in environmental engineering.
DeleteGreek myths and fairy tales! Two of my favorite things! I have a few books on Greek myths, but I don't think I have the original Brothers Grimm - I need to pick that up!
ReplyDeleteHappy reading!
Grimm's fairy tales rock! I've read some of the originals, but not all. Hence the purchase!
DeleteI hope you enjoy all of your new books. I've read a few books recently that were based upon Greek Mythology and I loved them.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my STS earlier. I, too, have read a couple of the Gallagher Girls books. I plan on finishing that series this year. From what I have heard, it gets even better with every book.
Me too!
DeleteAnd interesting. I've definitely read I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have To Kill You, but I never read any of the other books. I'll trust your opinion.
Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales--NICE. I'd like to read some of those someday. I hope you enjoy it all! :D
ReplyDeleteI hope to at some point! Thank you, Jessica.
DeleteGrimm's Fairy Tales are sooo fun! I have been reading quite a few for my Project Disney where I compare film to story! What a difference between the two!!

Stacking the Shelves

ReplyDeleteThank you, Kristen! I'm hoping it's just as (or more) awesome than the first one. And the original fairy tales should be interesting :D

ReplyDeleteHere's my Sunday Post & STS at Bookmunchies (:
It's creepy and pretty at the same time... maybe the fact that it is pretty makes it pretty. And I agree - I love the appearance of mythology!
DeleteLooks like awesome books :D Not read any of them, but they sounds good. Happy reading sweetie. <3 :)
ReplyDeleteI hope they are awesome! Thank you, Carina.
DeleteThat box looks huge in the picture! The only historical I've really liked was Grave Mercy, but then again it was about killer nuns so it was hard not to like it.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year and good luck in school!
It was gigantic! Definitely going to put lots of books in there, to store. Grave Mercy was epic! I still need to read Dark Triumph though. Thank you so much, Nereyda!
DeleteParanoia looks good, hope you enjoy!
ReplyDeleteIt does. Thanks!
DeleteI love Grimm's Fairytales. I didn't know that you were an engineering major! That's awesome :) Paranoia looks good! Thanks for stopping by my blog!

ReplyDeleteYES! Definitely. Love the pun, girl, LOVE IT :D My pleasure!
DeleteAren't sales the best? I had to resist buying things or I would be more poor than I normally am. :) YOU ARE RIGHT that everyone needs Grimm's fairy tales! I got a copy recently, and I love it. So fun to pick up and read a story or two every so often. Plus the originals are just so cool.
ReplyDeleteAnd yay for school? I start back tomorrow, so booooooooo. :)
Sales are the worst/best... I need to stop LOL. The originals are cool! It's interesting to see how twisted people make the stories. The originals seem wacky.
DeleteHave fun at school! Winter classes are in session for me. Blah!
The cover of Paranoia REALLY creeps me out. I mean, no one wants to look up your nose you know? :P
ReplyDeleteEnjoy all your lovely books Alyssa! :D<3
Never thought of it that you, you know!
DeleteThank you, Kelly!
