Happy Tuesday! Today I've decided to participate in Top Ten Tuesday, formerly hosted by Jamie at The Broke and the Bookish, now hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
Today's topic is:
Frequently Used Words In [Insert Genre/Age Group] Titles
(I chose "Fire" in YA Titles!)
It's funny because I just did a post on favorite YA books with the word "shadow" in the title. So I did "fire" for today's TTT. I cheated a little because the last three are books I have not read yet, but hope to do so this year!
And the books you mention are reall amazing!I can't wait for "Girls of paper and fire"
ReplyDeleteOh nice! I think this would be a fun topic! Though also a touch hard as I've only read a handful of these! Sounds like a fun topic though! Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteHere's my Tuesday Post
Have a GREAT day!
Old Follower :)
Great topic pick! I love that there are so many books with Fire in the cover as well as having pretty covers!
ReplyDeleteIt's so true, I was just thinking about this the other day. "Fire" is used sooo often in YA books haha. Side note, but Girls of Paper and Fire is absolutely fantastic! Awesome post :)

You're right...YA does tend to use the word fire a lot, and a lot of other words too, which I'm sure can be confusing sometimes. haha

Fire definitely seems a big one for YA titles. I can see why- it tells the reader they are in for some action.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize that Fire was such a hot word!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun topic! I've definitely noticed a lot of words being used over and over and Fire is one of them for sure!
ReplyDeleteI never seem to notice how many YA books there are with fire in the title! Your post about "shadow" books surprised me also! Here's hoping we get some more inventive titles in the future. :D
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun post! I need to stop booking tours and such on Tuesdays so I can join into Top 10 again. Great picks!
ReplyDeleteThese covers look so aesthetically pleasing together. I love this list. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteWell since I read HR's alot I think Duke is a real popular word, as well as Rake!! Great post!

I haven't read any of these but the Rachel Caine book is one I do need to get to soon. Great post!
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw your topic, a few of the books on your list popped into my head. The Girl of Fire and Thorns is one of my favorite series, and Fire was probably my favorite Graceling book.
ReplyDeleteI like your topic! and I love The Girl of Fire and Thorns trilogy.
ReplyDeleteHere is My Top 10 Tuesday
Fire is definitely an overused word in YA titles. Bonus points to Rachel Carson for using it in the just as prevalent trend of naming YA books in the format of "A _____ of ____ and ____"! :D
