Welcome to the blog tour for The Savage Dawn by Melissa Grey! Today I'm sharing my thoughts on the story, as well as soon never-seen-before quotes from the book. Don't miss this explosive conclusion to the highly imaginative trilogy!
About the Book:
The Savage Dawn by Melissa Grey
Book Three of the The Girl at Midnight series
Publisher: Delacore Press
Publication Date: July 11, 2017
Official Summary:
The sides have been chosen and the battle lines drawn.
Echo awakened the Firebird. Now she is the only one with the power to face the darkness she unwittingly unleashed . . . right into the waiting hands of Tanith, the new Dragon Prince. Tanith has one goal in mind: destroy her enemies, raze their lands, and reign supreme in a new era where the Drakharin are almighty and the Avicen are nothing but a memory.
The war that has been brewing for centuries is finally imminent. But the scales are tipped. Echo might hold the power to face the darkness within the Dragon Prince, but she has far to go to master its overwhelming force. And now she’s plagued by uncertainty. With Caius no longer by her side, she doesn’t know if she can do it alone. Is she strong enough to save her home and the people she loves?
Whether Echo is ready to face this evil is not the question. The war has begun, and there is no looking back. There are only two outcomes possible: triumph or death.

My Mini-Review:
In efforts to keep things spoiler-free, I'm foregoing my usual review format. I may end up posting a formal review like my usual reviews in the future, but at this time, I think it's best if I keep this short and sweet and to the point. I really don't want to spoil anything. I liked the first two books a lot, and this third book won't disappoint. You'll recall the cliffhanger at the end of book two - that cliffhanger is pretty brutal. But it is addressed somewhat quickly. This book is almost 500 pages long, and we see the return of a certain character within the first 200 pages.
On that note, I loved seeing the gang in action. Echo, Caius, Jasper, Dorian, Ivy, etc. have so much to fight for, as the war with Tanith has grown to be bigger than them alone. Grey keeps this story action-packed, and readers will be at the edge of their seats.
There are so many shippy romances and they are great! No love triangles, but there are separate ships that are swoony and wonderful. My favorite is Caius/Echo, but there are others that make you want to sigh happily.
The ending. The ending is good, but mostly bittersweet. It works for this story, but for me, with my preferences, I didn't love the ending. That would be the only thing that would bring down my rating. Again, it's not a terrible ending! But the ending I would have liked to see.
Overall, 3.5 stars -> rounded up to 4 stars, and a great conclusion to the series.
My Favorite Quotes:
"Holy shit," Echo breathed." You're like Snow White, but with dragons."

Magic and madness. Not far from each other indeed.

Takuminarsivalliajuq, she thought. An Inuit word to describe a person whom becomes more beautiful over time.

Echo sat up so her head wasn't resting on his shoulder, but she didn't move away. Her thigh pressed against his in a warm line of contact, and she could feel the slight shifting of muscle as he worked the pedals. Music spilled from his fingertips, filling the room with a gentle tune that Echo knew as well as the beat of her own heart.
