Waiting on Wednesday (#146): The Winner's Kiss by Marie Rutkoski

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week, I'm featuring:

The Winner's Kiss by Marie Rutkoski
Book Three of The Winner's Trilogy
Publisher: Farrar Straus & Giroux
Publication Date: March 1, 2016

Summary (from Goodreads):

War has begun. Arin is in the thick of it, with the East as his ally and the empire as his enemy. He’s finally managed to dismiss the memory of Kestrel, even if he can’t quite forget her. Kestrel turned into someone he could no longer recognize: someone who cared more for the empire than for the lives of innocent people—and certainly more than she cared for him. At least, that’s what he thinks.

But far north lies a work camp where Kestrel is a prisoner. Can she manage to escape before she loses herself? As the war intensifies, both Kestrel and Arin discover unexpected roles in battle, terrible secrets, and a fragile hope. The world is changing. The East is pitted against the West, and Kestrel and Arin are caught between. In a game like this, can anybody really win?

Please end with a HEA, please end with a HEA, PLEASE END WITH A HEA OR ELSE.

  9. I haven't even started reading this series yet. The first book sits on my TBR shelf, I look at it longingly, and then I pick something else, because there's always an ARC to be read, or a book festival coming or an author signing coming up...you get the picture. Anyway, I really, really want to read this series! Great pick, I envy you for being caught up! Here's my WoW. Happy reading!

  13. I'm not even aware of this series! I feel like I'm missing out! And after some of the un-HEA endings of recent trilogies, it would be nice to feel HAPPY after finishing a series!!

  14. LOL :D Stunning pick Alyssa ;) Love that we chose the same one this week, lol. AND YESSSSS. This must end with a HEA for the romance. Otherwise I will be VERY ANGRY. And disappointed. Ugh. Happy ending, please :) Fingers crossed we will both love this precious looking book. <3

    1. Oh yeah. For sure. There will be an angry mob somewhere if Rutkoski doesn't end this series at least SATISFACTORILY.

I.e. HEA. We will take nothing less. :D

  15. I still haven't read The Winner's Crime! I'm terrified. I just know it's going to break me. :( At this point I guess I should just wait and read 2-3 back to back. Might be better for my heart!
