Stacking the Shelves (#123)

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews, in which bloggers share the books and swag they've received in the past week!

So, what did I get in the week of Sunday, April 26th to Saturday, May 2nd?

(all links to Goodreads are provided!)

In the mail:

To be edited on Sunday.

From NetGalley:

I love historical fiction! Eleanor is super fabulous and I can't wait to read this one.

Retelling! Fantasy! Yay!

From Edelweiss:

I don't think this is an related novel to Black Ice but I'm excited for a new book by Fitzpatrick!

I liked Compulsion a lot! I'm excited for this sequel.

AHHHH!!!!! THE CONCLUSION!!!!! The Burning Sky and The Perilous Sea are two of my favorite novels!

Snow Like Ashes was quite good!

The sequel to Exquisite Captive, a book I read last year and LOVED!

I haven't really enjoyed McGinnis's previous books, but this one is different from her survival stories. So I'll give it a shot!

WOW, lots of books! This week has been crazy. As most of you know, I live in Baltimore (the city), so it's been... different. Curfews and protests and mass police presence, sirens and ambulances and emergency text alerts and mass amounts of panic, racism, tension, and fright at the university and in the city in general. But my family and family's property are safe. And the case is moving forward, there have been peace in the city since Monday night, so things have been slighter... calmer. That eerie calm though.

  1. Gotta love those EW uploads! I prefer this cover of A Whole New World to the real one, I got it too. As well as Blood Passage.
    Stay safe!

    1. I KNOW! The placeholder is great! I was lazy and didn't feel like hunting down the real cover. I can't wait to read it, and Blood Passage!

  4. Wow! Yeah I requested like mad on EW but not expecting positive responses. But I cannot wait to read Dangerous Lies, A Madness So Discreet, and Ice Like Fire! In good time! At least while I wait I can finally get back to the books I bought! I don't think I've really read one of those in weeks!

    Happy Reading!!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by then!

    Have a GREAT day!

    1. I hope you get all of the ones you've requested, Jessica! I know I won't be reading most of these until MAYBE July, but it's better to get them earlier than later!

  5. Wow! As a fellow Balitmorean, it's very rare that I meet readers from the city. Haven't lived there for years, but friends and family are still there. Totally miss Lexington Market! Glad you are safe. Looks like you were able to get a great mix of books for your pile. Lucky you! Hugs...Ro

    1. Thank you very much, Kel. Since the Attorney's statement, things have been less burning with hatred and more "peaceful", though I put that in quotes because who knows what will happen next.

  8. I'm so glad you and your family are safe. That has to be so scary. Keep us updated.

Lovely books this week. I have avoided downloading from EW and hoping I can continue to resist the pretties. I am so tempted to DL Immortal Heights.

  10. Wow, glad you're safe! I used to live in Sanford Florida during the Trayvon Martin case and the riots and pandemonium there scared me, I can't even imagine living in Baltimore right now.

I've been trying not to request too many Netgalley books. I didn't have much luck requesting on Edelweiss, so when I made a netgalley I went a little request happy, expecting that I wouldn't get too many approvals. I was wrong and now I've got a nice sized pile to get through, lol.

  11. Alyssa, that must have been so scary for you. I am really glad you and your family are ok. *hugs* When I saw it on the news I was like, omg- the world is going crazy... Sigh.

But yay for those books! I picked up quite a few of the same today. I couldn't find Blood Passage though for download- did you get an invite for it? I think I'm most excited for Mindy's. I am psyched about A Whole New World too though!

Good luck on finals coming up lovely! xoxo

    1. The world IS going crazy though :/

Blood Passage was available for download for me! No invite necessary o.O Is that not the case anymore? Perhaps it's one of those titles that only allows a certain amount of downloads before they close it. I don't know D: I hope you love the ones you got this week, Jess!

      Thank you!

  13. Oh wow, so many great books! I barely ever get approved for EW galleys, so I'm making my list for BEA at least!

  14. I saw Harper added all those pretties and I STILL have not went to download anything.

A Whole New World sounds fascinating, I cannot WAIT. :)

    1. That's great! You missed out on Blood Passage, it's no longer available for download. So waiting might not always be the best plan of action, if there was something you wanted to read.

  16. Ohhh the pretties! I want so, so many of those books. Scratch that, all of them ;) I mean, I requested of course, but you know how that goes haha.

I am so glad you and your family is safe, that has to be so scary! I cannot even imagine how hard living there right now must be. Please stay safe!! Hope this week is calmer, and you enjoy all the new books!

  17. Looks like we got quite a few of the same books! I got Persuasion egalley, but and really hoping to get a physical ARC to match the ARC I have of Compulsion. Wow, you have had a crazy week living in Baltimore. I'm glad to see that it seems things are somewhat settling back to normal there, I only wish the same would have happened here in Missouri after we had the big problems earlier. Thanks for stopping by my Sunday post earlier!
