Feature and Follow Friday (#30)

The Feature & Follow is a creative meme that allows bloggers to get to know each other, and gain more followers! It is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

If you would like, it would be great if you followed me via Email, Linky, Bloglovin, or Google+ (all on the right). I have no idea what's going on with GFC, so I'd prefer you follow me in a new manner. Let me know in the comments if you did, leave a link to your blog, and I will comment and follow back! I always do, I promise! Thank you so much!

Q: How do you handle a book you don’t like? Do you DNF or do you power through?

Funny, I was just talking about this one Twitter. My rule with books:

If I deem it worthy enough to START IT, it deserves the chance to be FINISHED.

I never, ever start a book and NOT finish it. DNF reviews? Do not exist with me. If I give a book one star - it's because I disliked it THAT MUCH.

I might hate a book while reading it, but if I started it, I'll finish it. Maybe not in the same sitting, in the same day, in the same week, in the same month! But I will finish it.

    1. I'm sorry! But, hey you can't read everything! We all have different policies.

  2. Usually I will give it 50-100 pages but it has to be fast-paced to keep my interest. I would love to finish every book I start and it normally happens because I'm picky about what I read, but due to writing commitments I no longer have the time. I have only had 1 DNF though!

    1. I completely understand that you have writing commitments! I'm picky as well, but I like to finish things I start.

  3. Wow. That's dedication! I am like that in some respect, but have to say I do have some DNF books. Not many. Not even sure how many, definitely less than 10 out of who knows how many...possibly even less than 5. Would have to check my archives. But yeah, nearly 99% of the time I power through a book. It takes a lot of disliking for me to DNF something.

    Here's my Follow Friday

    Have a GREAT weekend!

  4. That's a great rule!! I follow something like it. I never don't finish a book because if I took the time to read half, I can read the other half. There's only one book I haven't finished, and I keep telling myself I'll get back to it just to prove my own point... Either way, you have serious dedication! Now I know if you don't finish a book, then it must be really bad...LOL

    1. Thank you so much! And yeah - if I don't finish something (there's a first for everything!), then it's BAD bad :D

  5. I was JUST talking about this! I try hard not to DNF a book. Ill call it a PD-put down instead. I found a few times I went back and thoroughly enjoyed the book. Cinder was one of the last PD books of mine that I really enjoyed.
Sometimes if its a really popular book ill feel bad because I didn't go gaga over it like others.
I followed you via Bloglovin. I'm not doing FF, I stopped by to visit.

    1. OMG right?! I PD'd Through the Ever Night - but I totally intend to finish it before 2013 ends.

And the second part of your comment - definitely agree. The Sea of Tranquility was my latest disappointment that everyone else liked...

      Thank you so much!

  6. That's always been my philosophy Alyssa! I have yet to DNF a book. Lately though, I've been trying to tell myself: why waste time on a book you're hating? And I want to adopt a new policy where after 30-40% I DNF. We'll see if I actually do it. I feel like I'm letting the book down or something if I don't finish. I'm pretty OCD and I don't like leaving things unfinished. GAH. My brain.

    1. We're so similar! I hope never to have such a policy... but never say never ;)

  7. Love your answer ;) I usually power through them too. I won't rate a book that I don't finish, and I don't review them either, although I do understand why people write DNF reviews.

    1. YAY! That's good to hear - a committed reader. I don't usually rate books I don't finish, but then, I always finish. I wouldn't rate books I don't finish.

  8. I always finish reading book, I hate to DNF,sometimes I will read another book and then go back to the unfinish book.
