Grasping At Eternity by Karen Amanda Hooper
Book One of the Kindrily series
Publisher: Starry Sky Publishing
Publication Date: May 25, 2012
Official Summary:
Leave it to Maryah Woodsen to break the one rule that will screw up eternity: Never erase your memories.
Before entering this life, Maryah did the unthinkable—she erased. Now, at seventeen years old, she’s clueless that her new adoptive family has known her for centuries, that they are perpetually reincarnated souls, and that they have supernatural abilities. Oh, and she's supposed to love (not despise) Nathan, the green-eyed daredevil who saved her life.
Nathan is convinced his family’s plan to spark Maryah's memory is hopeless, but his love for her is undying. After spending (and remembering) so many lifetimes together, being around an empty version of his soulmate is heart shattering. He hates acting like a stalker, but has no choice because the evil outcast who murdered Maryah in their last lifetime is still after her.
While Maryah’s hunter inches closer, she and Nathan make assumptions and hide secrets that rip them further apart. Maryah has to believe in the magic within her, Nathan must have faith in the power of their love, and both need to grasp onto the truth before they lose each other forever—and discover just how lonely eternity can be.
About the Author:
Karen was born and bred in Baltimore, frolicked and froze in Colorado for a couple of years and is currently sunning and splashing around Florida with her two beloved dogs. She's addicted to coffee, chocolate and complicated happily-ever-afters.
Karen has been making up stories for as long as she can remember. In high school she discovered her passion for putting her thoughts onto paper, but it wasn't until her late twenties that she wrote her first novel. Due to her strong Disney upbringing, she still believes in fairytales and will forever sprinkle magic throughout all of her novels.
The Excerpt:
“Every lifetime,” he continued, “each body has been different. It’s always a challenge to relearn you, but I enjoy each and every drawn out moment of it, and in the past, you did too.” He kissed the crook of my arm and my breath caught. I didn't even know people kissed each other there, but it should be on way more top ten lists.
As enchanting as Nathan’s words were, it was still hard for me to comprehend that I had lived in other bodies. He set my arm down and I forced my eyes to open. “What was your favorite version of me?”
“What do you mean?”
I spun my ring around my thumb, avoiding eye contact with him. For some reason it was easier to talk about it if I wasn't looking at him. “I’m sure I was prettier and sexier in my other lives. Is there a past version of me that was your favorite?”
Nathan put the book on the nightstand and adjusted so he was sitting directly facing me. “Let me explain this again. It’s your soul I’m in love with. The package it comes in makes no difference to me. Your inner beauty and the energy of your being are what attract me to you.” He touched my cheek then his fingertips drifted down my neck and shoulders. “But to answer your question, this is my favorite version of you.”

Giveaway #2:
Thanks so much for helping spread the word about my books! :)
ReplyDeleteI totally believe in reincarnation. I've heard stories of small children knowing other languages and having information in their minds that just wasn't possible for them to know!

Definitely something I want to read.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if I entirely believe in reincarnation due to my own religious beliefs, but it's an interesting concept. If I were to be reincarnated I would like to come back as a cat. They have it easy. Meals provided with no having to earn money for it, sleep all day, play whenever you like. Who wouldn't want that sort of life?
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to read Taking Back Forever! It looks like a very awesome read.
ReplyDeleteI completely believe in reincarnation, I too would like to come back as a cat. I have an awesome black cat named moon that fetches like a dog. I would want to be like him.
ReplyDeleteI think the stories of reincarnation are fascinating. Probably would want to come back as a human. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI don't normally like reincarnation stories very much, but this one sounds really interesting... :)
ReplyDeleteI'd want to be reincarnated as a human, just because its like a second chance. Not that I would change everything but maybe a couple of things... lol
ReplyDeleteI think reincarnation is a great way of giving us multiple chances to be the best we can be. If I were to be reincarnated, I'd like to come back as a human, but with a different nationality and gender. I'd like to see if I could still be a good person as someone with completely different circumstances.
ReplyDeletei would want to be a bird
ReplyDeleteWhat a hard question. As I understand it you would come back and start over whatever you came back as and frankly I don't think I would want to go through the teens again LOL Maybe a dog or cat with a really good owner ;) Naps and treats - oh yeah!
