"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.
This week, I'm featuring:
The Gauntlet by Megan Shepherd
Book Three of The Cage series
Publisher: HarperCollins
Publisher: HarperCollins
Publication Date: May 23, 2017
Summary (from Goodreads):
Cora and her friends have escaped the Kindred station and landed at Armstrong—a supposed safe haven on a small moon—where they plan to regroup and figure out how to win the Gauntlet, the challenging competition to prove humanity’s intelligence and set them free. But Armstrong is no paradise; ruled by a power-hungry sheriff, it’s a violent world where the teens are enslaved and put to work in mines. As Nok’s due date grows closer, and Mali and Leon journey across space to rescue Cassian, the former inhabitants of the cage are up against impossible odds.
With the whole universe at stake, Cora will do whatever it takes, including pushing her body and mind to the breaking point, to escape Armstrong and run the Gauntlet. But it isn’t just a deranged sheriff she has to overcome: the other intelligent species—the Axion, Kindred, Gatherers, and Mosca—all have their own reasons to stop her. Not knowing who to trust, Cora must rely on her own instincts to win the competition, which could change the world—though it might destroy her in the process.
I can't wait to see how this series ends!
This is another one where I never started the series. Hope you like this one, and that she wins the Gauntlet.

DeleteI never ended up reading the first two books in this trilogy, but I might pick them up if I hear lots of praise for this one. Hope you love it! ^_^

The first one was okay, but the second one was really good. Thank you, Brittany!

The series is pretty great!
DeleteI have the first book I still need to read. I can't believe the third one is coming out already! haha
ReplyDelete-Lauren
You should binge-read the series! ;)
DeleteI wasn't hugely thrilled with the first book, and never got around to finishing the second, although I did barely start it. One of these days I'll have to go finish up. Thanks for stopping by Lisa Loves Literature's WOW earlier.
ReplyDeleteAwww! I know what you mean though. I gave the first book three stars, but then LOVED the second book. It gets better!
DeleteYou're very welcome!
The Cage series is one that has completely passed unnoticed to me, lol. I had to look up the first book before I recalled seeing it before. I'm much more familiar with The Madman's Daughter, but still, I haven't yet read a Megan Shepherd book...
ReplyDeleteIt has flown under a lot of radars! But I think it's better than her debut trilogy. ;)
DeleteI must admit I'm pretty unfamiliar with this series, The Cage. Although glaring over the synopsis for this one has got me curious. Actually, that sounds pretty intense!
ReplyDeleteIt's an intriguing science fiction series! =)
DeleteI really, really liked The Hunt, I can't wait to know how everything ends. I hope we both love it!
ReplyDeleteYAY! I hope this one does not disappoint. ^_^
DeleteI didn't enjoy the romance in the first book, so I haven't continued reading this series. I hope you'll love this one though! :) Thanks for sharing, and for stopping by my WoW earlier.
ReplyDeleteAwww! I know what you mean though - it was a bit love-triangle-y. Thankfully that disappeared in book two (though it wasn't too triangle-y to begin with).
DeleteYou're very welcome, Petra!
The Cage is on my Wishlist! Glad to hear how much you've enjoyed the series. I must definitely read it!
ReplyDeleteOoo, excellent! I hope you like the series, Darlene. ^_^
DeleteOh my, this series is on book 3 already!? I still need to read the first one. I hope you love this one. :)
ReplyDeleteRight? Time is zipping by. This is the last book in the series, so you could marathon the series if you wanted!
DeleteThank you, Erin!
I still own book one; just need to buy book two and then this one when it comes out :) I have decided to try them all, haha :) I was unsure at first.. but so curious about them after all, lol. I hope you will love this final one a whole bunch :D Lovely pick sweetie. <3
ReplyDeleteThis series is much better than her debut trilogy! I think you might enjoy these books, Carina. Thank you!
