I'm religious, and I rather not read about another religion. But I though the religion in this book was easy to read and not aggravating. Like, it was always there, but it was shoved down your throat or anything.

THE ROMANCE IS THE BEST! Hector... ;)

And the crazy endings are why I avoid sequels. I'm getting better though! But authors are not, unfortunately D:

Thank you! I hope that if you decide to start this series, you read and enjoy all of the books (and novellas)!Alyssahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00128004483437247740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3634501776293792112.post-84417508096731499952013-08-26T23:15:39.036-04:002013-08-26T23:15:39.036-04:00Ooo, Christina, you must read this sequel! I wish ...Ooo, Christina, you must read this sequel! I wish someone could weed out the sequels that are good and that are bad. I guess that will be me from now on, right? Good way to balance my fears ;)

I'm glad I'm not the only one that didn't remember much! But you'll be fine if you do read this book, even if you don't re-read Book One. I didn't re-read it.

Thornhill was AWESOME! I understand though.

Thank you, Christina! <3Alyssahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00128004483437247740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3634501776293792112.post-19192723291794439932013-08-26T23:01:51.156-04:002013-08-26T23:01:51.156-04:00I haven't started this series yet because I...I haven't started this series yet because I've heard it puts a lot of time into praying and god... Which I have nothing against but books like that always go really slow though.
I have heard though that the characters are amazing and that the romance in this book and in the next book was phenomanal!
So this that you don't have to wait for the next book! You're definitely right about so many authors having a crazy ending for the second book! It makes me want to avoid second books at all costs though!!
Great review! So glad you liked this one and were able to easily get back into the series!!! I might have to get the first one from my library!Fly to the Skyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12449856862096458652noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3634501776293792112.post-507908139071857722013-08-26T22:36:46.272-04:002013-08-26T22:36:46.272-04:00Agh yet another sequel I haven't read. But as ...Agh yet another sequel I haven't read. But as you've told me on Twitter and this great review, maybe I should just wait until I get my hands on The Bitter Kingdom since this book ends so heartrendingly. I'm worse than you though. I enjoyed the first book but I remember even fewer characters than you did! I'll probably be completely lost once I finally start it.
Like a previous comment, I'm relieved it doesn't fall into the sophomore slump. Other than Thornhill recently, I've been disappointed. Nice to know this is a solid sequel. Great review!Christinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04767523797495694824noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3634501776293792112.post-75012669696976761722013-08-26T16:01:00.272-04:002013-08-26T16:01:00.272-04:00YOU MUST! Well, this is a book two in the series, ...YOU MUST! Well, this is a book two in the series, but I hope you binge-read the series at some point! The Bitter Kingdom (book three) is my favorite of the series.

Thank you! :)Alyssahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00128004483437247740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3634501776293792112.post-45952710032315688122013-08-26T15:58:26.200-04:002013-08-26T15:58:26.200-04:00Aww, thank you for the thoughtful comment, Eileen!...Aww, thank you for the thoughtful comment, Eileen! I seriously don't remember book one, so I don't remember Mara being in it lol. I know she had her own novella though!

Thank you so much! <3Alyssahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00128004483437247740noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3634501776293792112.post-61812506334592358612013-08-26T12:29:21.825-04:002013-08-26T12:29:21.825-04:00HEY!
I haven't read this series... and I'...HEY!

I haven't read this series... and I'm STILL kicking myself for not reading any of Rae Carson's books yet. Ahh... But I loved your review and I'm totally starting it, so yay, you've influenced me!

- NovaN o v a - Z a yhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06071319586825957117noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3634501776293792112.post-90061104030605033262013-08-26T11:14:19.523-04:002013-08-26T11:14:19.523-04:00Oh yay I'm so happy that you didn't this f...Oh yay I'm so happy that you didn't this fell under Second Book Syndrome. I agree, Elisa really developed as a character from the beginning to the end. I'm pretty sure Mara was in the first book though, she was like the camp's cook and she tagged along during one of the last journeys and then was appointed as a lady-in-waiting or something like that. Or maybe I'm remembering the book wrong from when I read it last month for summer reading O_O But I'm glad that you really liked Crown of Embers, Hector is soo swoonworthy!

Fantastic review, Alyssa!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
