More often than not, they just wind up disappointing me. It sucks about Roselie taking away so much from your enjoyment of the book, but she really does sound like a pain in the butt.
Sorry this was so disappointing for you! :/Nickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13304521473521896294noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3634501776293792112.post-82475237973901090232017-03-29T12:10:16.747-04:002017-03-29T12:10:16.747-04:00Wow, Roselie doesn't sound like my type of rom...Wow, Roselie doesn't sound like my type of romance heroine at all. Don't get me wrong, I *love* a kick butt heroine who takes no prisoners, even in HR, but I need their decisions to make sense at the very least. I do want to read Elizabeth Boyle one of these days, though!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03345874849864173182noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3634501776293792112.post-55669153135308259212017-03-29T05:43:03.284-04:002017-03-29T05:43:03.284-04:00Oh nope nope nope. Romance authors in general portray their female leads as super stubborn and sassy (which I have no problem with) but it's the degree in which they show this that gets to me. I just end up getting annoyed with them.

Awesome review, Alyssa!

Ashtyn @ Wonderland’s Reader!Ashhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10824421758203354453noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3634501776293792112.post-29274371766995305772017-03-28T11:38:30.219-04:002017-03-28T11:38:30.219-04:00I agree! Many of the are SO historically inaccurate or improbable and it pisses me off! Maybe some of these authors should just stick to contemporary romance instead of historical romance, because I'm not going for it. I will stay far far away from this book and look into those authors you suggested. I don't think I could stand her at all and would probably DNF the book if I were to read it. I'm glad that at least Brody and secondary characters were great, but I understand why one character can ruin the book for you. It totally sucks :/
Genesis @ Latte Nights ReviewsGenesis Shelihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00747341162267071158noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3634501776293792112.post-60527415710722556232017-03-27T12:03:59.528-04:002017-03-27T12:03:59.528-04:00Oh man...and I was so excited to read this one. Its so feminist and not in a good way. It comes off as the heroines being so selfish and it just doesn't fit the time period at all!!!Lover Of Romancehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06815249440754171341noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3634501776293792112.post-15784107763694521862017-03-27T11:17:43.971-04:002017-03-27T11:17:43.971-04:00Ohh man I am sorry you didn't like this one. I agree when reading it is hard to get fully into a book if you are not connecting with the female lead especially if she isn't fitting into the time period. Good luck on your next read! I probably would have had the same hangups as you. I hate the selfish MCs. I think authors try really hard to make a strong "assertive" female character but end up just making her really unlikable.
